My 2g-grandfather was Richard Marion Mathis. He wasn't born in Floyd County, GA but was married there on 18 Feb 1866 to Frances Annie Elizabeth Williams. They lived there in Floyd County raising a family the rest of their lives. R.M. died 8 May 1910 and Annie on 18 Jan 1926. Are they any relation to your Mathis ancestors.
