Hi, Ok, make good grades. I have waited this long a few more days will make no difference. LoL When you get a chance to check it will be ok. It would be nice if I lived close to Georgia then I could check on it myself... but in Arizona it is hard to check for myself. thanks for the work you are doing, Kae
Kitty: I could not find a "Roscoe" but, in the 1930 census, there was a Francis SMITH, age 47, and his wife Ida M., age 40, living @ #10 Forrest Street in Rome. They had a daughter Virginia, age 10, and Francis' occupation was as a barber. All 3 had been born in Georgia and the parents of Francis and Ida had been born in Georgia. In "Georgia Deaths, 1919 - 1998" there is a Francis R. Smith, age 85, who died in 1968 in Floyd County. All the ages are right. I could not find the couple in the 1920 census. Thank you! I'm sure this is the right person, as his first name was Francis but he went by Roscoe. I was sure wishing he had a son, as I'm trying to locate some descendants! Greetings. I'm hoping somebody out there might be able to help me with some information -- I'm in Oregon, can't get back there to research it in person. What I know is: Asbury was born in Dawson County in 1857. He married Martha June 27, 1878. She was born in Floyd County in 1857. He died and is buried in Wax. They had the following known children: Cicero, Davis, Beunie, Ernest, Sarah, John Richard, and Francis Roscoe. John moved to Cedartown, Roscoe died in Rome, was married to Ida. Beunie, apparently unmarried, lived in Wax [possibly with her father] and supplied the information for his death certificate. He was a widower at the time of his death, his occupation was farmer. Does anybody know where I might look to find an obit for Asbury? Does anybody know anybody in Wax who might have known him? Does anybody know what Methodist church is nearest to Wax, where I might find information about him? Does anybody know anything about Martha Haygood or her family? Does anybody know living descendants of any of the above children? Does anybody have any suggestions where else I might look? These are my ggrand parents and I'm trying to flesh out their lives beyond statistics. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Kitty Johnson
