I am looking for a little help with information on my Gr. Gr. Grandfather (Pleman) P. R. WILLIAMS and wife Amanda Wade. P.R. was born July 1823 in Georgia and 1st wife Amanda WADE, born circa 1825 in Greene County, GA. They were married before 1848. Their only child, Frances Annie Elizabeth WILLIAMS was born October 1848 in Floyd County, Georgia. In the 1860 census, they lived in the Rome District of Floyd County and P.R. was a carpenter. In the 1870 census P. R. was a farmer living with Amanda in subdivision 49 near the Yarborough post office in Floyd County. Their daughter Frances Annie Elizabeth WILIAMS had already left the family and married Richard Marion MATHIS. Amanda died 15 Sep 1875 near Running Water, Floyd County, GA. P. R was Methodist and Amanda converted from Baptist to Methodist. During the civil war, P.R. enlisted in the 1st Regiment, Georgia State Line, Co. C, Floyd County, "Fort Infantry". Most of his battle action was in Georgia: Kennesaw Mountain in Cobb County, west of Marietta; at the Chattahoochee Bridge between Cobb & Fulton counties; the Battle of Peachtree Creek in Fulton County NW of Atlanta; the Battle of Atlanta; Utoy Creek in Fulton County east of Atlanta; Jonesboro in Clayton County south of Atlanta; the Battle of Griswoldville in Jones County east of Macon; Grahamville, Jasper County, S.C., north northeast of Savannah; Little Ogeechee Railroad bridge, northwest of Savannah; the Battle of Columbus, Georgia and Girard, Alabama. On 20 Apr 1865 the 1st Regiment surrendered after a short skirmish in Macon Georgia. P.R. WILLIAMS' 2nd wife was Mary Jane BREWER born Jun 1856 in Georgia. Mary Jane Brewer was born Jun 1856 in GA, d. 2 Dec 1932 in Floyd Co GA. She was the daughter of William M. Brewer and Martha W. (Unknown). P.R and Mary Jane got married on 22 December 1876 in Floyd County, GA. Their children were: Walter Loveless, born 3 September 1877 in Georgia; Mattie Martha, born October 1879; Jack B., born November 1881; Laura, born August 1884; and Mary Lee, born October 1891. P.R., Mary Jane, and family were living on Spring Street in Rome, Floyd County in the 1900 census. Daughter Mattie was widowed from husband J. L. Collier in the 1900 census. In 1920 Walter was a machinist and a night watchman in 1930. Jack was a laborer. On 25 Aug 1900, Walter WILLIAMS married Georgia Mae UNDERWOOD and on 5 July 1903 Jack WILLIAMS married Lizzie PEARL both brothers married in Floyd County. Laura married John Hendrix about 1909 and Mary Lee married D. B. HENDRICKS. P.R. WILLIAMS applied for civil war veteran's pension. P.R. died 15 May 1908 in Floyd County, GA. 1. Who were Pleman's parents and where was he born? 2. Who were Amanda Wade's parents? 3. When and where did Pleman marry his first wife Amanda WADE? 4. Where were (Pleman) P. R. WILLIAMS and 1st wife Amanda Wade in the 1850 census? 5. Where were (Pleman) P. R. WILLIAMS and 2nd wife Mary Jane in the 1880 census? In the 1860, 1870, & 1900 census he was in Floyd County, GA. 6. Where was (Pleman) P. R. WILLIAMS buried? Thanks for any help. Lynn Farrer mlFarrer@swbell.net

Attached is a photo of Richard Marion Mathis taken as a member of the Cherokee Artillery - Corput's Battery - at the State Reunion of Confederate Veterans held in Rome Georgia, September 14-15, 1904. His father-in-law Pleman R. Williams fought in the civil war serving in the 1st Regiment Georgia State Line, Co. C, with recruits from Floyd County. Pleman lived to almost age 85-years old dying on 15 May 1908. Being the State Reunion of Civil War Vets was held in Rome in 1904 and Annie's father Pleman Williams also lived in Rome, there should have been a Photo taken of his company also. In the the obit of my 50 year old GGG grandmother Amanda Wade WILLIAMS which mentions the death of her 19 year old nephew John (W.) WADE and the pending death of her 77 year old mother Lucy WADE. In the 1870 Floyd County Census, page 128B, Lucy and John were living with Lucy's son Joshua L. WADE. In the 1860 Floyd County Georgia Census, page 191, Amanda WILLIAMS is with her husband P. R. (Pleman) WILLIAMS and daughter Frances A. E. (Annie Elizabeth) WILLIAMS. Pleman was born in Jul 1823 in <Cass> County GA and died on 15 May 1908 in Floyd County, Georgia. He was a carpenter, farmer, Methodist and Civil War vet. He served in Company C of the 1st Regiment Georgia State Line, enlisting at "Fort Infantry", Floyd County, Georgia. Second wife was Mary Jane Brewer, m. on 12 Dec 1876 in Floyd Co GA. For 15 years I have not been able to find his in the 1850 census, find his marriage to Amanda, or determine who his parents were. Does this ring bell with anyone? Lynn Farrer
