    3. I have recently been able to copy some of the records of Salem Baptist Church and I think some of you may be interested in the information found in the records. The church was only in existence from 1827 until 1854. I have transcribed the records from 1827 through 1831 and part of 1832 and will try to obtain the rest very soon. I also included the information at the end of the microfilm when the church was dissolved in 1854. Names included: Adcock Beasley, Biffel, Bentley, Bates, Bolt, Bridges, Blann Cavender, Cook, Chambers, Crider, Clyatt, Cross, Caloway Elder Griffin, Gay, Green, Gibson, Gaskill Harrington, Holder, Head, Henderson, Hubbard, Heflin, Harris, Holmes Johnson, Jones Lee, Lyons Malone, Mercer, Moseley, McDonald Otwell, Osbern Pate, Patterson, Porter, Pearce Ransom, Reeves, Robertson, Rooker Sharp, Stell, Smith, Strickland Weems, Walden, Wilson, Williams, Walker, Whitaker The transcription is found here: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~gafayett/church/salem.htm Enjoy! Linda B.

    3. Linda, Bless you for transcribing and posting these Salem church records. For a long while I have tried to find out which church my ancestral Reeves family belonged to, and I found them all in these minutes! My g-g-grandfather and g-g-gm William and Camilla (Mille) Reeves joined on April 5, 1828 A day later my ggg-grandfather Wiley Reeves joined. My ggg-gm Rebecca Reeves joined on May 16, 1828. I stopped reading there to absorb it all, but will certainly read every line you posted here and in the future, as this opens up a new avenue for my research. I am also hopeful there may be a clue to the death and resting place of some of these ancestors. You have certainly made my day!
