John Thomas Mackey's first wife was one of my kin, on my May line. I'll summarize what I know, which may not be new to you. John Thomas Mackey was born c. 1830, died 1859 in Fayette County. I do not know of his parents. I searched both Fayette County and Coweta County cemetery record publications, but could not find him. The closest I found was a John Thomas McKoy (1827-1893), buried at Oak Hill in Coweta County. But, I checked his will, and there does not seem to be a tie. J.T. Mackey's date of death is best evidenced by the 1860 Fayette County census, where, in household 207, we find his second wife, the widow Martha McKey, 23, their daughter Lawrence (likely Florence Littleton), 4, daughter Lilly, 3, and son Thomas, 1. These seem to fit the names of what I have for his known children. He married (1) Sarah Ann Bridges on 12 December 1850 in Coweta County. She was born in 1834, died in 1852 in Coweta County, the daughter of Solomon T. Bridges and Serena A. May. They had Solomon Perry Mackey (1852-1852). Sarah Ann, her parents and her infant son are all buried at Bridges-Stallings in Coweta County. I suspect, but cannot prove, that John Thomas Mackey is also there, given his 1859 death, buried near his first wife, his infant son, and his first wife's parents. He married (2) Martha Olivia Ann Page (1837-1915), Coweta County, 22 August 1854. I believe they had the three children listed earlier. Also of interest to me, her mother was Nancy Ann Gay, another family I research. Hope this is of interest, Bob Johnston Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
