He was born 20 September 1860 in Fayetteville, Fayette County Georgia. His father was William Morgan Smith Jr.; who was also born in Fayetteville. W.M.Smith Jr. married Priscilla Allum about 1857. Priscilla was born in Pollensville, Henry County Georgia; unknown date. William Morgan Smith Sr. was born about 1808; place of birth unknown. He was married to Elizabeth Post. They were married in Fayetteville. We have been trying to fill in the gaps for years. Minton had a daughter named Lona. She married Melvin Pingree. Melvin passed away from a ruptured appendix and Lona then married his brother, Sherman. Lona and Melvin had one daughter, Mildred and Lona and Sherman had one daughter Dorothy Patricia. My husband is the son of Dorothy AKA Pat. Pat did most of the research for us on this family line. She went to Georgia a number of years ago to see if she could find more information. Minton had told her that he remembered the Union Soldiers coming through during the Civil War and burning their home down. His mother had stuffed some important belongings up into the chimney in order to keep them safe. After the soldiers left and the fire had gone cold she returned to claim those items. I have not made it all the way through my mother-in-laws book so I am not sure if she ever found out what those items were. We are still looking for birth and death dates as well as siblings for Wm. Morgan Smith Sr. and Jr. and for Minton, Priscilla and Elizabeth. Do either of you have this information? My husband is going to be very excited to know that we have found family!
