Can anyone claim or provide info on this family? 1850 Fayette County, GA census, #473/481 ............Norris, Henry, 37, m, farmer, b. SC ............Norris, Margaret, 31, f, b. NC ............Norris, Julia A., 12, f, b. GA ............Norris, Caroline, 11, f, b. GA ............Norris, Jethro, 9, m, b. GA ............Norris, Rebeccah, 7, f, b. GA ............Norris, Martha, 5, f, b. GA ............Norris, Silas, 1, m, b. GA My ancestor is a John/Jethro (or John Jethro) Norris (b. abt 1808-1809 in SC) who moved to Fayette County from Gwinnett between 1850 and 1860. Jethro was in Walton County in 1830 and in Gwinnett in 1840. My Jethro had a son named Henry. This Henry had a son named Jethro, leading me to believe that, given the birth years and birthplaces, these two men may be brothers. My Jethro later moved (or was shifted in a boundary change) to Campbell County by 1870. He also appears in the Joe Brown census (Fayette) in 1863 as exempted from (CW) service, age 55, a shoemaker. Try as I might, I can't find Henry's family in the next census. Ancestry's indexing has gotten so bad, it may be a mis-transcription problem, but I have tried about everything I know, including "Morris" and "Harris," exact and Soundex. There are a couple of deeds in Fayette County for a Willis C. Norris (1856 to 1859) but I can't find him in the census either. I was hoping to determine his age and maybe add him as a brother-possibility to my Jethro. If anyone can claim Henry or Willis and tell me something about them or their families I would really appreciate it.
