Jackie, It seems that those with PCs can view the actual documents. These online records start at 1821, when the county was formed. I also had called the clerk (she was the one who told me about the online documents) and she told me the records there at the Superior Court office (real esate division) were also earl ones (from the beginning). If I can't get my computer to read the actual documents, then I'll have to make a trip to Fayetteville. If I do, I'll let you know if I found the early records. Judy & others, I had been unable to view much here before today so I think the site is under construction and the other thing I noticed is you have to have Java enabled which may be causing some people to have problems. Even though the pull down list doesn't give an option for the earliest deeds (beginning in 1820's) they are included in the index and the actual deeds ARE online!!
