Dorothy, Couldn't help but notice your middle name. Are your Duke's from Fayette County? I am looking for the burial location of Robert and Violet Duke and their son John Monroe Duke (married to Sarah Ann Beck). John Monroe and Sarah Ann Duke were the parents of my great grand mother, Martha Jane Duke who was married to John Thomas Camp. They were married in Clayton County in the 1880s. Violet Duke was the daughter of Rev. War soldier James Waldrop and his wife Mary Morrison. They are buried in marked graves at the Bottoms Cemetery and it is possible that Robert and Violet are there as well. Robert died prior to the 1880 census and Violet afterwards. In the 1880 census she was living with son Thomas and several daughters. I can't find burial locations for any of them or Thomas in the 1900 census. I have found land records where Robert and John purchased land together in Fayette County prior to John's marriage to Sarah Ann Beck. They were living in the area of Fayette near Clayton County. Does anyone know anything about these folks? THANKS!!!! Carole

My friend is reading this book, a story of Talulah Gilbert Bottoms' life and the quilts she made. It is mainly a story of the quilts, but my friend says it is packed full of history and family stories from the immigration of her family to Fayette Co in the 1820's through the War of Northern Aggression to 1941. I have no knowledge of the book, where it could be obtained, or the other families mentioned, so there's no need to ask me any questions other than the author of the book. Legacy : The Story of Talula Gilbert Bottoms and Her Quilts (Paperback) by Nancilu B. Burdick (Author) I did find it on Amazon if anyone is interested.

My Roberts were not in Fayette-except for lateral on the Cannon family there. Two seperate Roberts families in Merriwether Co Ga-married into this same Cannon Family. Do you know the last name of her sons? You might could look up Bob's name in PTC and see if he still lives there. I have a Fayette County book if you know the name. Their children were Luckie, Sallie, Tarsus, Hezekiah, Georgia, Addie, Clarence, and James. The family are shown on the Fayette Co 1900 census. I believe James' obituary was in the Griffin newspaper and he is buried in Griffin. Death certificate #8642 Spalding county. Any additional info welcomed. Luckie married Mattie Lou Brown of Fayette County. Her parents were James D and Mary, shown on the 1910 Fayette Census. Kendrick, born in 1852. He married Susan Edins (Eddins, Eddings), born in 1854. He lived in Shelby County, Alabama, not far from Birmingham sometime around 1870-1874. He and Susan had two children, firstborn Sarah (not sure of the date) and second born James Eli, born 1874. John went missing while Susan was pregnant with Eli. We have no information regarding his parents and/or siblings. If you have any information, it would be much appreciated! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
