Other possible siblings were Cassafira/Kasfira Brown/Norton, John Pinkney Brown/Elizabeth, Sarah Brown/Chandler, Frances Brown, Ritta A Brown, Thomas Early Brown/Abi Gunn Rhodes and Harbon/Harbod Ishmael Brown, more or less all brn in Georgia, lastly in Fayette Co GA, Sarah brn in MS. John Pickney is likely the oldest brn?? So surname "Pickney" is important? It is been stated that the parents of William Franklin Brown, the bases of my search, were Henry Brown and Dicey Waldrop, see name variances for Waldrop below? What I need would be a will or other document for a Henry Brown dth unknown, but before 1850. Mary, as in the census below was living in Fayette Co GA in 1850 with her children. She may have had two other mrgs to a Rolland Brown and lastly a William Brown?? I know that the Brown children above were all brothers and sisters, but I cannot determine if Mary "Dicey" Waldrop mrd more than once. Any help or insight would be helpful? I agree with your analysis. I am learning as I go along and find this all very interesting. There are large numbers of Norths in Coweta County and the census records are not sufficent to fill in the blanks. I am learning about other resources and I believe my answers will lie in those other records. Coweta County seems to have excellent documentation. Once I acquire more skills and knowledge about the county's marriage, birth and death records I may pieces this together. I do find a Benjamin and Zorada North with a child named John and also a Marcus D. and M.L. North with a child named John also both children born around 1832. I appreciate the information from you and if you like I will send you any information I find. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I do not believe the article Valerie recently posted from the August 1905 issue of the "Enterprise Gazette" fits the names and dates you provided about your North family. I could be wrong, but it seems to me most likely that the R.M. North referred to in the article was Richard Marcus North (1852-1915). He did have a son John Thomas North (30 May 1875 - 19 April 1941), who attended Columbia University in New York, graduating in 1895. I believe this John Thomas North founded a large, very successful travel company, with offices in many cities. Unfortunately, I cannot find a Thomas North in Coweta County records, born circa 1836, nor a Richard North, born circa 1876, the names and dates you provided. But, as I said earlier, I could be wrong. If I am off base, I would very much appreciate someone straightening me out. I suggest you search other Georgia counties. The one you describe is an obvious one and I know there is one family listed twice and the HH shows different residents in each listing. Another case I know of in the 1850 for Fayette is that of my third Great-Grandfather - he died on 11 Oct 1850 but he is enumerated on this census and the page is dated after his death so I have assumed that the enumerator recopied pages later than the original enumeration date and errors were made. M. North in honor of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. North, of New York. A large party of young people were invited and although the weather was a little inclement, nearly everyone was present to par take of this feast. The meats consisted of shoat and mutton and, as prepared by Mr. E. T. Peek, was pronounced very fine. The table was set in the beautiful back yard and was laden with meats, pickle and fine bread. Everyone present seemed to enjoy themselves to the fullest extent and it was a late hour when the merry crowd said "Good night" to the host and hostess. --- Mr. John T. North, of New York, is spending several days with his parents and friends here. He has been in that city a number of years and is making a decided success in his chosen profession. It has been about nine years since he visited home folks and of course it is a pleasant occasion. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
