    1. [GAFAYETT] Genealogy Alert: Geocities to close this year
    2. Genealogy Alert: Geocities to close this year You may have heard that Geocities will be closing down later this year (2009). There are many genealogy sites on Geocities, and sadly, many of these sites may be lost if the webmasters don't move the sites to a new location. Yahoo is not notifying anyone about this by e-mail and many webmasters have not updated their sites in years, so--more likely than not--are not even aware the pages they have posted will be lost. You or someone you know may have genealogy information posted on a Geocities site. USGenWeb & Rootsweb also have had links to Geocities sites. Please help spread the word so genealogy websites won't be lost. http://ancestorsearch.blogspot.com/2009/04/my-genealogy-site-is-on-geocities -now_29.html http://ancestorsearch.blogspot.com/2009/05/my-genealogy-site-is-on-geocities -now.html http://ancestorsearch.blogspot.com/2009/05/my-genealogy-site-is-on-geocities -now_05.html

Fayette County, Georgia Marriages - Book G (1892-1901) pg. 65 Marriage License State of Georgia County of Fayette To any Judge, Justice of the Peace or Minister of the Gospel: You are hereby authorized to join I W Bishop and Miss Ella Cannon in the Holy Estate of Matrimony according to the Constitution and laws of this state and for so doing this shall be your license. And you are hereby required to return this license to me, with the certificate hereon with the fact and date of the marriage. Given under my hand and seal this 17th day of November 1893 D M Franklin (SEAL) Ordinary Certificate Georgia (Fayette Co crossed out; replaced with) Spalding County I certify that I. W. Bishop and Miss Ella Cannon were joined in matrimony by me this 3 day of December Eighteen Hundred and 93. G. E. Lavender, M. G. D M Franklin, Ordinary Additional Comments: Transcribed by Carol Hoyt - March 10, 2009 I found this marriage license on Georgia's virtual vault. Click on County Records from Microfilm and select Fayette County. http://content.sos.state.ga.us/cdm4/countyfilm.php I don't think you can search for a name but you can take a look at the microfilm of the indexes. Under the word certificate Georgia Fayette County is printed. Fayette is crossed out and Spalding is written in. Isaiah Bishop was previously married to Rosannah Gray. I now believe they were divorced about 1892. Rosannah's death certificate indicates that she was divorced. 2. Thanks to Carol (Bishop) Hoyt for bringing this wonderful resource to my attention. _http://content.sos.state.ga.us/cdm4/countyfilm.php_ (http://content.sos.state.ga.us/cdm4/countyfilm.php) Click on the county drop down box to see what is available for Fayette as well as other counties. A word of caution - they are a little challenging to work your way though. It was a lot of trial and error on my part and not sure if I could explain it to anyone else. What's scrambled in my brain is very hard for me to retrieve & translate into words that make sense. :-) Happy Hunting! 3. Poston, especially Wm E and John M; Children of Edward Bearden and Fannie Giles, especially Parthena, who married John M. Poston.  Looking for their ancestors, and burial places.  And what happened to John M. Poston during or just after the civil war. Pathena moved her children to Walker County AL after 1870.  I can't think why.   Dorothy Duke Rhodes
