He died in Fayette County in 1865. He was listed in Fayette County census records in 1840, 1850 and 1860, as well as in the Joe Brown census in 1863. This Charles Bailey is buried at the County Line Christian Church Cemetery, Fayette County, where he was listed as a charter member. He married(1) Mary Ann Westmoreland (1821-1854), one of my kin, and they had Robert c.1840, Missouri Ann c.1843, Alexandra c.1845, Louisa Josephine c.1847, John c.1849, and Mary c.1853. In 1858, he married(2) Martha A. Bishop. They had Charles C.1860, Jefferson Davis C.1862, and Medore c.1864. Hope this helps. I would be interested in comparing notes if you are a descendant of his first marriage. Robert Edge "Bob" Johnston Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: cleathers147 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.georgia.counties.fayette/1449.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Black Rock 709th G.M.D.(General Militia District) was known originally as Jonesboro District but was renamed when the 1088th G.M.D. was created and where the town of Jonesboro, originally Fayette, but after 1858 Clayton County. By 1910 Black Rock had dwindled because of other militia dist. creations the 1248th and 1262nd in 1872. A good source is the 1914 Fayette County Map. A part of it would have been bound by Morning Creek on the East and Whitewater Creek on the West. Mt. Olive and New Hope Churches were located in the Dist. which was south of Kenwood and Helmer and North of Fayetteville. Robinson School is listed on the 1914 map. It was small about 22 landlots. Faytte Pavilion today would probably be located in the Black Rock Dist.(Militia Districts were used for census purposes. A Fayette County Map of today would show the district lines as well as current locations and streets. I am sure you can find a Fayette County Georgia map online somewhere. Hope this helps.
