Can someone tell me more about the folks buried in Ebenezer? Basically, is this a "mixed-race" cemetery or white only? Tara --- avast! Antivirus: Outbound message clean. Tara, I suppose you are referring to Ebenezer Methodist. As far as I know, it is white only. It is a large cemetery, with the majority of interrments taking place in the first half of the 1900's. The original church was founded in 1790, called Gumlog. It was built in its present location in 1877, and attended by the Thompson, Beasley, Flanders, Kitchens, Youngblood, Durden, and several other families of the area. Most of the folks buried there were related to these families. The Reubin Thompson Family Association helps to upkeep the church. Marilyn Lear is the historian for the Association, but is temporarily off this mailing list. You can find the cemetery listings at the Emanuel Co genweb site. Carol B.
