Does anyone have information on William GOFF, Company H, 28 Georgia Infantry Regiment Georgia, AKA Ohoopee Guards? He enlisted as a Private on 25 September 1861 and was killed 17 September 1862 in Sharpsburg, MD. William GOFF was from Washington Co., GA which, according to USGENWEB, was originally a larger county that gave up land to several counties, including Emanuel Co., GA. According to one Civil War website (http://extlab1.entnem.ufl.edu/olustee/28th_GA_inf.html), the 28 Georgia Infantry Regiment, AKA Ohoopee Guards, contained men from Cherokee, Emanuel, Jefferson, Merriwether, Richmond, and Washington counties. Interestingly, while the USGENWEB site for Emanuel Co., GA recognizes several military companies, Company H, 28 Georgia Infantry Regiment is not among them. Is William GOFF of Washington Co., GA, d 1862, father of William Green GOFF of Emanuel Co., GA? Thanks for any insights. Denise Lindsey Wells Falls Church, VA
