The Atlanta Constitution March 11, 1911 FARMER FATALLY HURT IN PECULIAR ACCIDENT Swainsboro, Ga. March 9 Frank Covena, a well known farmer of this county, came near losing his life in an accident this morning. Covena was building a wire fence and in stretching the wire in some manner the stretcher broke and an iron clamp flew up and struck Mr. Covena behind the ear. He was knocked senseless and for a time was thought to be dead. Physicians from this city were rushed out and report that while Covena is still living, his life is hanging by a thread. To make the accident doubly sad is the fact that he was married only one moth ago. He is a nephew of Sheriff T.A. Fields and is a young man highly esteemed.
