OBITUARY: MRS. MATTIE L. ROUNTREE, Chipley, Florida Mrs. Mattie L. Rountree,79, a lifetime resident of Emanuel county died at the residence of her son, Judge Cecil A. Rountree, at Chipley, Florida after a short illness. Mrs. Rountree was the widow of the late Joshua R. Rountree, one of the pioneer leaders of Emanuel county. She was a member of the Primitvie Baptist Church, and a leader in the church and social life of Swainsboro. She was the daughter of the late Swain Anderson of Emanuel county. Survivors include five children: Judge Cecil A. Rountree, of Chipley, Fla; Capt. John Rountree, of the United States Coast Guard, of Baltimore, Md.; James Rountree of Sarasota, Fla; Mrs. Lucille Pulver, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Martha Winkle, of Winona, Minn. She is also survived by one brother, J. L. Anderson, of Canoochee, Ga., one step-daughter, Mrs. J.R. Powell,Sr.,Swainsboro, Ga., two step-sons, George S. Rountree of Vidalia, Ga. and J. Clarke Rountree, of Decatur, Ala. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock, p.m. Thursday, March 2nd, from the Primitive Baptist Church, in Swainsboro, with the Rev. J. Walter Hendrix, officiating, assisted by Elders S.M.Claxton and John D. Durden. Printed in SFB 3-2-1950.
