In the Emanuel county 1850 census the following is written: " Visit 239: SMITH, White R. 32; Rachael 24; Martha 6; John 5; Jourdain 3; Sarah 1; Martha 60, South Carolina; STROUD, John 24; PRICE, James H. 20" John Stroud was my g-g-grandfather. Do you have any information as to why he was listed at Mr. Smith's residence in 1850? I do know his father died when he and his siblings were young teens, and may have lived with this family possibly until his marriage in 1852. Any family stories, any information you might have at all would be greatly appreciated.
