OBITUARY: Mrs. Alice Rountree Anderson, 82, of Canoochee passed away early Sunday morning in a local hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Anderson was the daughter of the late W.P. Rountree and Laura Coleman Rountree both natives of Emanuel County. She was a member of the Haw Hammock Baptist Church. Survivors are her husband, James I. Anderson of Canoochee; five daughters Mrs. Ivey Dekle of Twin City, Mrs. John Johnson of Canoochee, Mrs. Maude Kemp of Twin City, Mrs. Wells Elliott of Swainsboro and Mrs. A. W. Blackburn of Swainsboro; two sisters, Mrs. J.H. Medlock of Swainsboro, and Mrs. Lamar Turner of Callahan, Fla.; nine grand children and thirteen great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at 4 p.m. from the Hebron Baptist Church at Garfield with Rev. T.R. Wynn and Elder Rollie Riner officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbeareres were Joe Perry Smith, Olan Rountree, John Ellis Rountree, William Medlock, William Turner, and Guy Rountree. The Shadow Lawn Mortuary was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
