Obit for Henry Elmo Delaney, Jr. SFB 31 Aug 1944 Henry Elmo Delaney, Jr., 23, Pharmacists Mate 3-C U.S.N.R. attached to the Marine Corps was killed as a result of enemy action at sea and was buried at sea on July 26, his mother, Mrs. Rosa Delaney, of 1217 Georgia Ave., West Palm Beach, Fla., has been advised by the Navy Department. He had been on Saipan for several weeks and was being transferred to another island when he met his death. Mr. Delaney was graduated from Valdosta High School and had gone to West Palm Beach to make his home about eight years ago. He was associated with Newberry’s Pharmacy there for a number of years before he entered the service about 20 months ago. He had been overseas about six months. His mother is the former Rosa McLendon, daughter of S.J. McLendon and the late Anna Moxley McLendon, formerly of Emanuel County. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sgt. Sally Delaney,WAC, of Philadelp[hia and Washington, D.C. and a young brother , Jackie. His wife has arrived from Philadelphia for a visit with his mother.
