Here are 2 possibilities: General George Washington WOODS had 2 sons named John. The first was born about 1860, out-of-wedlock, to Essie HOOKS. I'm not sure, though, whether he went by WOODS or HOOKS. The 2nd son was born Oct 1881 to wife Eveline L. WILLIAMS. He later married Maggie WILLIAMS. That's all I know about either of them.
