JAMES MADISON CROSS, Baptist minister, Guyton, Effingham Co., Ga., son of Sardis Eason and Delany (Hayslip) Cross, was born in Burke county, Ga., Sept. 9, 1834. His father was a prosperous farmer, who died when he was eighteen months old, and he had the misfortune to lose his mother by death when nine years old. Being an only child he was left to the care of Alexander E. Cross, a cousin.     3. Carol, Will send more info later...I have a few questions, too. Gotta go to ball in Statesboro. It seems the Cross and Spence families tie in with the Green, McGar and Lamb families quite a bit. That was my interest when I was researching them a few years ago.
