Forest Blade 22 Jun 2005 Eula Screws Morris, 97 SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Eula Screws Morris, 97, was held Thursday, June 16th, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Peebles-CurryDurden Mortuary with Rev. Wayne DeFore and Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dellwood. She died Monday, June 13, 2005, at Johnson County Nursing Home in Scott after an extended illness. Mrs. Screws was a native of Emanuel County. She finished school in Summertown, GA as Valedictorian and attended Georgia Southern College, then known as Georgia Normal. She taught school and helped make and inspected camouflage nets for military use during World War II. She was employed by several stores in Swainsboro before beginning work at Dolores and Woodys Shop, retiring after 24 years in 1972. Mrs. Morris helped in several beauty shops in Swainsboro as shampoo assistant after retirement. Some of her hobbies were reading, working with flowers and cooking. She enjoyed baking and sharing with her family and friends. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the John R. Flanders Sunday School Class and was preceded in death by husbands, Lester Screws and Otha Morris. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Earl Ferrell of Orangeburg, S.C.; one step-daughter and stepson in-law, Billie and Coy Moulton of Jakins; one son, Billy Screws of Swainsboro; two sisters, Dorothy Mathis and Georgia Gunter both of Graniteville, S.C.; one half-sister, Wylene Lewis of Sandersville; two halfbrothers, Beman Boatright of Midville; and Myron Boatright of Valdosta; a special friend, Gail Mosley of Swainsboro; four grandchildren, Randy Screws of St. Augustine, Fla., Teresa Zipperer of Twin City, Lynn Gray of Cope, S.C. and Lei Maxwell of Cordova, S.C; five step-grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren and three step great-greatgrandchildren. Pallbearers were Jim Curry, Gene Bennett, Jim Zipperer, Charles Maxwell, Jr., Bryant Gray and Brandon Jones. Should friends desire, contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Swainsboro. A Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.
