Well, David Lamb wasn't my 7th grade English teacher ... it was 5th grade. I remember one day when I was sitting at the back of "A" row, talking with a neighbor. Mr. Lamb asked why I wasn't paying attention. Not wanting to get in trouble, I lied and told him that I couldn't see the board. Well, concerned teacher that he was, Mr. Lamb made arrangements for me to see an eye doctor ... and sure enough, I was badly in need of a pair of glasses! I don't think I ever lied to him again.
