Olivia, I agree - and have always agreed - that Gracey Jane and Angeline are two different people. What has confused me is the use of the name Annie Jane, Any Jane, Anzane, Zannie, etc. which I assumed referred to Gracey Jane and which you suggest refers to Angeline. I think you are right. It makes sense that Elizabeth and Andrew Jackson (1880 census) are the children of Angeline/Annie Jane and not Gracey Jane and Boney, in which case, Will Faircloth/Goff is probably Angeline/Annie Jane's child as well. See Wm in 1900 census. His death certificate lists his mother as Jane Faircloth which could mean Angeline/Annie Jane and not Gracey Jane. Will's father is William Green GOFF. Do you know who the father of Elizabeth and Andrew Jackson was? Thanks for working through this with me. Notice Annie is listed next after Jane, then the two children after her. Although instructions to census takers were to list members of the household in their relationship to the head, this is the way many census takers listed children of the preceding person. This also bears out the family stories that she was a grandmother to their children. 1900 Emanuel County census: Faircloth, Angine - Head, born June 1849, widowed, 1 child, 1 living , Wm. - Son, 16, born May 1884 1910 Emanuel County census: Household 312/312: Faircloth, Anjane - Head, 60 , Jack - Son, 26 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Denise Wells" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, June 28, 2008 10:41 PM Subject: [GAEMANUE] FW: Jane FAIRCLOTH and Will FAIRCLOTH/GOFF >> Dear Olivia, Brenda, Dick Hughes, and others, >> >> I believe I may have found Jane FAIRCLOTH (aka Gracey Jane/Annie Jane) >> and >> Will GOFF in the 1900 census and Any Jane in the 1910 census.
