Edaline (Edeline) Hall was born 9-19-1812 in Ga and died 6-20-1901 in Emanuel Co Ga. She married John D Gillis in 1834. John was born 2-08-1802 in North Carolina and died 10-22-1856 in Emanuel Co Ga. At some point John served as Justice of the Peace of Emanuel Co. Children of Edaline and John: 1) Angus W b 1/31/1836 Montgomery Co Ga d 12/03/1918 Emanuel Co Ga. Married Millicent "Millie" Williamson. She was born 1841 Montgomery Co Ga, died 1874. Angus served in Morings Company, Emanuel Troops, Ga 10th Infantry Co C during the Civil War. 2) Maryan b 1840 3) Christian (female) b 1841 4) Katie b 1843 5) Martha b 1845 6) Margaret b 1847 7) July (Julia?) Ann b 1849 8) John L b 1853 9) Faley C (male) b 1855 10)Jesse b 1857 1850 Emanuel Co census: household 545: Gillis, John D 48 b NC, Edaline 38, Anguis 15, Mary Anne 14, Christian 11, Katharine 10, Martha 8, Margaret 6, and July Anne age 5 months. 1870 Emanuel Co census: Gillis, Eliza (should be Edaline) 54, Mary 31, Chirstian 29, Catherine 25, Martha 23, Margaret 21, Julia A 19, Joh (sic) L 18, Phala C 16, Jesse 13 Next door in 1870, son Angus: Gillis Anquish 33, Millie 28, John 12, Dora A 6, Andrew J 4, Anna 3 mo, Thomas 20 black male, Ellen 13 black female In 1880 Edaline was living next door to Angus again. She was in District 395 ( from LDS census): Edeline Gillis age 68 widow, Maryan ag 40, Christian age 39. Katie age 37, Martha age 35, Margaret age 33, July Ann age 31, John L age 27, and Faley C age 25. John and Faley work on farm. My mother knew of this family.
