    3. Olivia.. What you say in the last paragraph about problems with Bible records, etc is, of course, true....but to a limited extent in comparison with just 'hearsay' or passed along errors.... What I was really referring to was govt/court /count and state records in which mistakes are fare more rare..... I know that you know what I mean and that you, yourself, are able to distinguish fact from fiction far more easily than most.......but I just hope people don't read that last paragraph and think that verification doesn't matter at all....... wve -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Olivia & Larry Braddy Sent: Tuesday, August 05, 2008 8:58 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [GAEMANUE] WEB SITES Problems in Authenticity and LackofCitations This is basically the way I keep my files, too. I never totally disregard something from another researcher, even online, but I do make a note of who it is (if the name or e-mail address is available) and/or where it can be found (the URL). Then if more information comes to light later, that is added, as well. The hope is that somewhere down through the years, possibly by posterity, the facts will present themselves. I must admit I didn't always save my sources, but since so much is now available on the Internet, and we're relying more and more on that vast source rather than doing the footwork ourselves (the old way), I feel we should be more diligent about our notekeeping. Regarding "rare books," I own a few of those and have found many errors in them. After all, they're written by human beings, not God Himself. Bible records are often wrong because the notations are sometimes entered at a much later date than the event, many times by an in-law or someone who just didn't know the facts; this is the same thing that has happened in the death certificates: the information is only as good as the knowledge of the informant. Gravestones, too, are many times in error because they're erected at a later date by someone who doesn't have the facts.
