She was a > charter member of the Hoe and Hope Garden Club, Archibald Bulloch Chapter of > the > Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) as well as the Ponte Vedra Beach > Chapter of the DAR. She was also the past President of the Statesboro Georgia > Southern Symphony Orchestra Guild. She attended Tift College, Forsyth, Georgia > and graduated from Georgia Teachers College (now Georgia Southern > University) in Statesboro, Georgia. She was predeceased by her husbands J. R. > Gay Jr. > and E. L. Anderson, Jr. She is survived by her children: Linda (Tom) Nixon, > Griffin, Georgia; JoAnne (Wyman) Hunt, Jacksonville, Florida; Karen (Allen) > Seals, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; The Rev.
