Mike, Do you know if William's middle name is Wesley? I have been researching William Wesley Lanier (changed name from Heath) and he has ties to the Dekles of Emanuel. His mother was Sarah Heath and after her death, her brother, Hardy V. Heath, was made his guardian. Hardy married Eleanor Dekle, daughter of George Dekle. One of W.W. Lanier's sons, Jeff D., married Nora Jones, daughter of Allen and Nancy Dekle Jones (Nancy was the daughter of Littleton Dekle). I grew up on a farm in 'Dekle' country (the area that was Emanuel and later was made part of Candler) and married the GGgrandaughter of W.W. Lanier so I have done a great amount of research on the Laniers and Dekles but I still have not found W.W.'s father (I think he is Benjamin Lanier). There is a Dekle cemetery close to my farm between Twin City and Metter but I am sure your are aware of it.
