    3. Denise: Like you, I felt that "Zanie, etc." must have married a Simmons as her fifth husband (if in fact, she is Gracy Jane). If these children were not Angeline/Ann Jane's, then perhaps they were just "adopted" into the family. The reason I say that is because Gracy Jane had already had a child named Elizabeth, born 1861-1863; would she have had two named Elizabeth? 1870 US Census: Emanuel Co., GA - District 46, Swainsboro, Household 103/103: FAIRCLOTH, James L.B. 56, Farmer, b. GA Ellenander 67, Keeps House, b. SC Alexander 22, Works in Farm, b. GA Jane 26, Keeps House, b. GA COLEMAN, Elizabeth 9, At home, b. GA Levinah 7, At home, b. GA (Although Elizabeth and Levinah above are listed as COLEMANs, Jeremiah Coleman would not be their father, as he apparently did not stay long with Gracy Jane and had married Zilpha Durden Rountree December 24, 1861.) 1880 Emanuel County census District 53, Household 102/102: Faircloth, John 20, farm laborer , Elizabeth 23, wife, keeping house , Vina 19, wife sister, single (On either side of them are James B. & Ellender Faircloth and Enoch J. & Rachel Faircloth; on the other side of James B. are Boney & Jane Faircloth (Jane is the mother of Elizabeth and Vina). I have that Boney died "between December, 1879, and January, 1880." Yet he appears in the 1880 census, so this must not be correct. I did not keep my reference for this information. Regarding Ann Jane, etc. being listed as cousin, I don't know unless she was referring to being Gracy Jane's cousin, but there again, relationships of people in the household were supposed to be that of the head. Not much about this family makes any sense to me. We could get some help if some of their living descendants had some information; that is, if we could locate them.
