She was the wife of William Wesley Scott. The Bible was published in 1891. The star is on thin vellum-like paper. By googling RJ & RS Co we found at Ebay the following: "Rare Large Size Advertising Figural Shoe Knife - Star Brand Shoes Brass Scales-blade marked RJ & RS Co. - Germany" Has anyone else found similar advertising for Star Brand Shoes in your Emanuel County research? If so, I'd like to hear about it and would like to know more about the company and the shoes. Or maybe someone has another explanation for the star.
