According to the 1910 Laurens County Census, my great grandaunt Emma Riner was the 3rd wife of Marcus D. "Mark" Seals. She is a daughter of Edward Riner and his 2nd wife Emma Bowen. Today I finally identified Mark's 1st wife, Ella Copeland, whom he married in Hancock County on 23 Nov 1876. On the 1880 Hancock County Census Mark (mis-transcribed on Ancestry.com as Marlo Seale) was listed as son-in-law to Mary Copelan (sic), age 70. Also listed was Mark's 1-year-old son Herschel (I never knew about him before!) and Anna Little, 22-year-old granddaughter of Mary Copeland. Mark's wife Ella apparently died about the time Herschel was born. Mark married again and had at least one child by that marriage - Josephine A., born about 1889. In December 1891 he married my aunt Emma. Uncle Mark and Aunt Emma had at least 6 children: Felston D., Algie Mark, Myrtle C., Myra L., William Estus, and Lawrence L.. Questions: Does anyone know anything more about Marcus and his first two wives? Who was his 2nd wife? Is it possible that Anna Little became his 2nd wife? Were there any more children from the first two marriages other than Herschel and Josephine? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Carol Riner Everett
