We're all cousins, it seems. Samuel is my ggg-grandfather. (Nora Lee McKenzie is my grandmother.) I have a copy of the census records. I looked at the 1850 from Muscogee County, which is the one I think you're talking about. The family listed above Samuel and Louisiana is Thomas Willis, age 69. His wife's name is Susannah, age 67. There are two other people in the household--Lucinda J Cobb, 19, and Daniel J John., 11. Thomas and Susannah are listed as being born in North Carolina, Lucinda and Daniel in Houston Co. I'd be very interested to know why you believe this is Louisiana's family. Is there family legend to indicate this, maybe? If you'd like to correspond privately, my email addy is lynneeicher@gmail.com. Maybe together we can break this brick wall. LIST: I have in my possession some large group photos from Swainsboro High School in 1946 which I am having to scan into my computer in sections. I do not have the photo software to combine them. Does anyone on this list have the software, interest and time to help me with this? Please contact me privately at deloresth@hotmail.com It is a stay-at-home winter weekend. If we get this done, I'd like my photo partner and me to upload them to some Emanuel related historic site. _________________________________________________________________ Your E-mail and More On-the-Go. My cousin Don Grimes age 87, dies yesterday, 31 Jan 2010, in Swainsboro. Would someone on the list post his obituary when it is published in the FOREST-BLADE Newspaper. I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks Andy Sims 2937 Finch Ave Virginia Beach, VA 23453 StillmoreBoy@cox.net
Judith, You're right, of course. In my case, all of my great-grandparents and most of their families managed to live in Emanuel Co Ga sometime in the 1800's, some of their families coming to the Ga frontier in the latter half of the 1700's. It is just not possible to fully document some of these people. I agree that there are lots of unproved lineages out there, and much carelessness. But in some cases, if someone hasn't been claimed for 150-200 years and you can find good secondary evidence for identifying them, it just may be beneficial to other researchers and to one's own research to take an educated guess sometimes. At least to make suggestions. I know some people won't agree. I have actually rejected, at least temporarily, some long regarded ancestral lines in some branches of my family because I just don't agree with the research that I have seen. Everyone should do their own research, and reach their own conclusions, and be very careful about what they post. I do agree with that thought. Olivia, While we're on the subject, then, who do you think was the father of Mary Ann Rowland's first three children? Also, I did notice that you named a Hepzibah Hayes as Jesse's wife in a past post.. Olivia, That's what I have, except for the adopted part. I didn't know about that. I have Thomas D and James B, and also John, as sons of Manning Moore and Mary Ann Rowland. Then, I have Manning Moore and Jesse Moore b 1800 who married Epsabah Hayes or ???, as sons of James L Moore b 1777 and his wife Elizabeth Manning.
