Footnote is available for free from some public libraries. My library offers it but you have to go into the library to use it.
If you live anywhere near a Family History Library at an LDS (Mormon) church, they have a Footnote subscription that you can use for free. Carol
It's $49.95 for annual membership, $11.95 monthly. When I have more time to devote to genealogy, I intend to do it for one month and glean everything I can during that period. I already pay a big sum to Ancestry.com so can't see adding another annual membership at this time. Olivia ........................... Footnote offers an Annual Membership for $59.95 or a Monthly Membership for $11.95. You must cancel your monthly membership after one month if you don't' want them to automatically renew it each month, so beware of that. I have an annual membership at Footnote, but not for their census files. They only have the 1860 US Census 100% complete. The 1900 US Census is 5% complete; the 1910 US Census is 3% complete; the 1920 US Census is 3% complete; and the 1930 US Census is 98% complete. They are in the process of adding census files, but Ancestry.com is better for census research right now. What I DO like about Footnote is their historical newspaper collection, which is one of the best I have found Online. They also have many documents never seen before on the Web, which is a result of their partnership with The National Archives. You can check out their title lists before you subscribe to see if they offer anything that would be useful to you Footnote offers an Annual Membership for $59.95 or a Monthly Membership for $11.95. I hope most of you have got it straight now. There is a Sardis, Ga., in Burke County. There may be a Sardis Baptist Church near Savannah. Sardis Primitive Baptist Church is definitely in Emanuel County. It is nearer to Kite than it is to Swainsboro, therefore a Kite mailing address. Do a google map search on Sardis Church, Kite, Georgia. Sardis Church shows on Wes Lawson Road. The church is about 11 miles from Swainsboro. For driving directions, take US 80 west from Swainsboro a few miles. Turn right on Old McLeod's Bridge Road, aka (according to the map) Country Road 456. There is another church on your left, before you get to Sardis, but I can't recall it's name. Sardis is on your left, a very prominent landmark. The church cemetery is a good way farther on, on the right as I recall. Acc. to the map the same road a bit farther is named Wes Lawson road. The Wes Lawson family, and some of the Riners have long been associated with that Sardis Church. It has a good-sized well kept cemetery. A great many Riners are buried there. Hugh

In looking through my database, I realized I had this church located in Emanuel for some and in Johnson for others, so wondered which is correct. Carol, do you know what road it's on? Then I might can locate it on a map. Thanks. It is listed in Cemeteries of Emanuel County. It is also listed in the "Searching for Our Ancestors Among the Gravestones" which covers Johnson County, but that book states that Sardis is located in Emanuel County.
