Yes, you are correct about the flash/thumb/USB drives, Olivia. I haven't had one fail - yet! - but I know they can. And if my house burns down, they will burn too, along with our desktop and my laptop. Horrible thought! Over a year ago I somehow lost my thumb drive, and that prompted me to install the free Mozy. It's good to know that my latest backups and additions to my files are safe and secure outside my home and that I can easily retrieve them if I need to. You always give good advice and suggestions, Olivia. Yvonne, if by "thumb drive" you mean the little USB flash drives, beware! These things are bad about becoming corrupt and then they're inaccessible. I've had two to do that, and what's so bad, I didn't keep a list of what I'd downloaded on them, so have no idea what I lost. Olivia is right! I've used the free Mozy for over a year and it's a great deal. You choose the files you want backed up, and it's easy to see when you reach your free 2 GB. Can someone please give me the names, and information on the children of: Drury Steely Moore 1823-1908 and Mary Ann Yeomans(Youmans) 1821-1886 Thank you very much, Sue
According to the 1910 Laurens County Census, my great grandaunt Emma Riner was the 3rd wife of Marcus D. "Mark" Seals. She is a daughter of Edward Riner and his 2nd wife Emma Bowen. Today I finally identified Mark's 1st wife, Ella Copeland, whom he married in Hancock County on 23 Nov 1876. On the 1880 Hancock County Census Mark (mis-transcribed on Ancestry.com as Marlo Seale) was listed as son-in-law to Mary Copelan (sic), age 70. Also listed was Mark's 1-year-old son Herschel (I never knew about him before!) and Anna Little, 22-year-old granddaughter of Mary Copeland. Mark's wife Ella apparently died about the time Herschel was born. Mark married again and had at least one child by that marriage - Josephine A., born about 1889. In December 1891 he married my aunt Emma. Uncle Mark and Aunt Emma had at least 6 children: Felston D., Algie Mark, Myrtle C., Myra L., William Estus, and Lawrence L.. Questions: Does anyone know anything more about Marcus and his first two wives? Who was his 2nd wife? Is it possible that Anna Little became his 2nd wife? Were there any more children from the first two marriages other than Herschel and Josephine? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Carol Riner Everett
I am very confused about the ancestors of Jesse Wilkes (1799-1871) and Emelia Johnson (1800-1873) and their sons John (1831-1890) and Jesse (1828-????). I have two Willliam Rileys and several Jesses as Grandsons of Jesse Wilkes (1799-1871) and Emelia Johnson (1800-1873). Can some one assist me in the correct lineage? Thanks, Bob Adams
Does anyone have any information on Joseph Thompson who was on the 1798 Burke County Georgia Tax Index 1789-1799? Thanks, Bobbie Thompson Connor
Good question, Carol. An Emeline/Amelia "Millie" Moore was the daughter of Rosanna/Lourana Moore (some say Lourana was a Mosley); father possibly named Joseph Moore. This Millie Moore had several children out of wedlock. This is a mysterious family, and I have been trying for years to put it all together. As far as I can tell, Millie never married. I'm not positive that she is the same Millie Moore who was the mother of your Lewis. When I have more time, will send you what I have, but it's too complicated for me to work with today. The new wife, Charity Catherine Fiveash, is listed as being married 10 years. It all adds up except for one thing: she states she's had five children and five are living, yet only four in the household could be hers; seems the censustaker missed one.
