Well, I am confused. Are you saying that Frances and Eliza Ann are both daughters of Arthur Davis, Jr. and Charlotte Adams? Thanks, Sue
I wouldn't believe anything they tell you as to where these records are presently. These officials should be held responsible for how they have neglected these irreplaceable records. Do they answer to anyone? I think the voters need to be made aware of how their county's historical records have been blatantly strewn around and housed in buildings not protected from the heat or cold, rats and pigeon droppings. Many of us have witnessed and some actually have photos. ----- Original Message ----- From: "linda d thompson" <spinlady59@embarqmail.com> To: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com>; <gaemanue@rootsweb.com>; <GAEMANUE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, May 01, 2010 7:37 PM Subject: [GAEMANUE] records moved > Evening all, > I was planning a trip to Emanuel County/Swainsboro to do some genealogy > research, a cousin of mine is still there and advised that the older > records > had been moved to Vidalia, I did not speak directly with her. I haven't, Linda. But then, Swainsboro can do nothing that surprises me anymore. But maybe, just maybe, they've been moved to the Ladson Library for safekeeping. Don't count on it, though, because that would mean that somebody in that fair city actually cared! Evening all, I was planning a trip to Emanuel County/Swainsboro to do some genealogy research, a cousin of mine is still there and advised that the older records had been moved to Vidalia, I did not speak directly with her. Does anyone know anything about older records being moved? Linda Durant Thompson
Good Day Bo, Thanks for your response. I have the same info and more on John and Frances descendants. I have been told by my father all my life that, his Grandpa Randal Mac Phillips lived with the Davis family. Until I started researching my ancestry, we never knew why. I was glad to provide the answer to dad, Since John B Phillips died in the Civil War, it all makes sense. My question is where did the Arthur Davis and Charlotte Adams live in 1862? Any ideas? As for Julia and Nancy, I have some descendants. My father has given me all the children and many grandchildren names of Randall and Charlie Ann Gillis and he recalls them well. Please respond with your questions. Olivia, I don't have a John Hall as a son of Travis, and I don't see one on the 1860 or 1870 census for his family, so I'm thinking yours who married Sarah Powell must be the same John G. Hall who was Daniel Green Hall's son. I am not certain as to the year of birth - I have Nov 15 1863. Those are the children I have for John G Hall - except is it Cassie or Carrie? And I also have Eudine and Nexie. Rubie is perhaps spelled Ruby. Anyone who can help? Olivia, thanks for the info. I have a bunch of old photos and tintypes of the extended family. Since I live just NW of Atlanta, I've stopped by Blun several times where my grandmother grew up on the way to Savannah. Grandmama grew up with her grandparents, Luke and Rachel Rodgers. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Does anyone know who married John G. Hall, son of Daniel Green Hall and Martha Durden? He was born in 1863 and died in 1944, possibly in Higgston, Montgomery Co Ga, where he was living in 1920. Her name was Sarah. Was she a Powell? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Carol B. Miller
http://southerncampaign.org/pen/ On the Links tab there is some good information. Most helpful to me is the link for "Southern Campaigns of the American Revolution, Pension Files, Battle Information, and much more." It contains searchable pdf files of pension applications. Another link http://www.southerncemeteries.org/revolutionarywarpage.html is connected to the same website and contains an "Index to Compiled Service Records of Revolutionary War Soldiers Who Served with the American Army in Georgia Military Organizations." The website owner states she will mail images of the service cards, so about a month ago I emailed her and asked for images for 3 SCOTT men. Today she kindly sent me them all to me. Her homepage is http://www.southerncemeteries.org/home.html/Home.html Everything is free, as far as I could tell. Yvonne Scott

Yes. Larry and I did it in 2008. The cheapest place I've found it is Amazon.com; it's actually cheaper there than we can buy it as authors from the publisher. It's on other online book stores and eBay, as well. Dennard's in Soperton is the biggest seller around here. Also, we've just completed Montgomery County, and it should be on the shelves in the fall. Brinson born in 1900 is not the same Noah M. who married Elizabeth D. Durden. As "stirkki" posted 24 Feb 2008, Noah Matthew Brinson (b.08 Oct 1825 - d. 20 Apr 1878) married on 11 Jan 1849 to Elizabeth Dillard Durden (b.14 Mar 1831 - d.21 Nov 1908).They are buried at Antioch Primitive Baptist Church. They had a farm in Canoochee, GA. Noah was a Confederate Lt. in Cobb's Legion. He was also a magistrate and a Census Taker in 1860 for his district #49. You can see his signature "N.M.Brinson" on those documents. All of this happened in Emanuel Co. GA., except Noah was probably born in Burke Co,GA, where his parents, Shepard and Elizabeth Belcher Brinson lived. His wife, Elizabeth Dillard Durden Brinson was the daughter of Dennis Durden and Pheobe Dillard - this Pheobe was the daughter of the William Durden and Mary Dekle, that "katsgrandma" wrote about. One of Noah Matthew & "Bettie's" sons was Dennis Edwin Brinson who married Lena Ables, who begat my Grandfather, Noah Franklin Brinson Sr. The Ables Family is one I would like to know more about, if anyone out there can help me. Hope this helps someone else. For Proof: Noah and Bettie's marriage is listed in "Georgia Marriages" at GA State Archives Virtual Vault. Other sources include Brinson Family Bibles in "Historical! Collections of the GA Chapters of the DAR Vol IV", 1932, "Darden Family History" by Newton Jasper Darden, 1953,"Cobb's Legion Calvary" by Harriet Bey Mesic, 2009 and many census records. ~ Sschaeff1 Thank you to Wesley G. Wilson for posting "SUTTON CEMETARY" on 2 Aug 2001: William Durden 1775-1850 and wife Mary Dekle Durden 1784-1855 are also buried in the Sutton Cem. their daughter Malinda was the 1st wife of Jordan Sutton.
