    3. Carol, I really do appreciate the following information. I had the Martin names listed in the cemetery, but without census records to compare all of them to, I couldn't put them with my Martins. Of course I didn't have the other children that you listed in my file. I haven't worked on them in a while. Thanks again, Sue ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carol Riner Everett" <c_riner_everett@yahoo.com> To: <GAEMANUE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 18, 2005 10:32 PM Subject: [GAEMANUE-L] Descendants of Thomas Jeff MARTIN & Dora Frances CANNADY > I've found some additional information on this family. > > Carol > > First Generation > > 1. Brown researchers have Henry Brown married Sarah Nancy Wiggins. We are looking for the Henry Brown married to a daughter of Curtis Cobb. Help. Thanks in advance, Claudia x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x Claudia, We appear to have two different Henry Browns here. Henry S. Brown, (1805-1883); married to Nancy Wiggins, (1808-1887), is covered in some detail in a wonderful publication, "Linkage, The Study of a Family", by Jo S. Webb. The book is, sadly, long out of print, but I believe the Public Library in Dallas, Texas has a copy and they will do look-ups and make copies for you. Henry S. was the brother of Jesse L. Brown, both sons of Henry Brown and Mary (Lewis) Brown. Jesse had a son he named Henry and this is, I think, the same Henry who married Sarah. Henry was named in Jesse's will, and his age is correct . This particular branch of our Brown tree is quite removed from my main trunk so I haven't given it all that much attention. Still in all, I find the challenge of identifying and separating all the various Henrys, James, Daniels, etc, most exciting and daunting. It's about all the excitement I get these sunset days of my life. Best wishes and good hunting, Bill Brown Orlando, Florida

    1. Stroud Hart Rogers

    3. I think I have enough now to identify my G-GM Nancy Stroud Hart as the daughter of John Stroud. This might be helpful to those trying to connect up the descendants of John. 1880 Emanuel Census Stroud, John, 55 Susan [H or A], 48, wife Rachel, 23------------prob. Rachel Stroud Rogers m. Luke Rogers John W.,17, son Missouri, 14, daughter Nancy, 12-------------prob. Nancy Stroud Hart m. Manning Hart Richard J, 8, son Ollind, 5, son My reasoning follows. I connect Rachel and Nancy in this way. My Mother told me years ago that Hattie Hart Lawson (m. George W. Lawson, my GF) was first cousin to Mamie Willis (m. Joe Willis), and that Mamie "may have been a Rogers", the exact words I wrote in my notebook while talking with Mother. Recently I saw an email, to which I've lost the reference, declaring that John Stroud's daughter Rachel married Luke Rogers, they being the parents of Mamie Rogers who married Joe Willis. Then looking over my notes again, I saw the significance of the Hattie Hart Lawson and Mamie Willis connection. They were first cousins and were probably both granddaughters of John Stroud. What do Stroud-line students think of this? -- Hugh Lawson hlawson@triad.rr.com

    3. There are 6 messages about Bark Camp in the 2000 GAEMANUE-L archives. You can find it by going to rootsweb.com and checking the year 2000 by typing "Bark Camp" into the Query. Be sure to use quotation marks. I am interested in one of the charter members, John Allen. Cecile Harrell

    3. I know this went to the Burke list but I am responding here so I could let everyone know.. Bark Camp Church Church minutes have been transcribed and are available to view at the library in Swainsboro. I looked through it a few months ago while I was there. I think it started abt. 179?. 3. List friends, Just read in the Brunswick News about a special ceremony on Tuesday, April 19th, at Christ Churchyard Cemetery, Frederica. At 10 a.m. grave markers will be dedicated for four Rev. War Patriots: Cyrus Dart, Robert Grant, William Page and Samuel Wright. An historical marker commemorating the Rev. naval battle near Fort Frederica will be dedicated at 2 p.m. Admission to Fort Frederica will be free all day. The U.S. Navy Band Southeast will be featured among other groups. note:I don't think that I've seen any of the above mentioned Patriots mentioned on our list but thought I would mention this anyway, as some of you may have friends who are related. Should be a colorful, fun day, complete with bagpipes. Missing this list....still busy with moving to Brunswick. Marilyn M. Lear

    2. There was an overseer who worked for my ggg-grandmother, possibly my ggg-grandfather before his death...In the 1850 census he appears as Kannady...I'll have to pull the records to get a better look. But it seems to me, that name shows up with them for several years. Trisha
