    3. Apparently, they were divorced. I have this obituary: THE MONTGOMERY MONITOR Mount Vernon, Montgomery County, Georgia Thursday May 31, 1934 In Memoriam On May the sixth an angel came to the home of Mrs. Sam Stanford and took her dear mother, Mrs. Lendly Hudson, to rest. She was a dear mother and a dear aunt. She was kindly and loving to everybody she met. She carried a smile with her all the time. She leaves a number of loved ones to mourn her death. She was 79 years old. She raised five children who survive, Mrs. Martha Meeks, Augusta, Miss. Rome Hudson, Mr. Gib Hudson and Mr. Henry Hudson of Savannah, Mrs. Sam Stanford of Vidalia. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. T. Coleman, Tarrytown. The remains were laid to rest in the Harmony cemetery, near Soperton. This sweet soul has gone to rest, so children weep not for she is not dead, only sleeping in that sweet by and by. Written by her niece Miss Willie Lou Coleman //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //// HARMONY CEMETERY LENDIA HUDSON no dates Note: Mrs. Sam Stanford was Jennie (February 28, 1898; August 29, 1968). She married Samuel W. Stanford (October 23, 1897; December 16, 1970). They're buried at Pinecrest in Vidalia. They had children: Georgia Ruby, Walter A., Edward. 3. Yvonne, I have Celia Malinda "Linda" Scott married to Augustus H. "Gus" Hudson on Nov. 4, 1886, in Emanuel County. I have but little information on their family. Their children: Harmon H., Martha L., Henry Jessie, Bonny(?) or Ramie(?) A., Gilbert Newton "Gib", and Jennie M. Gus married second Arvell Marsh on Jan. 13, 1920, in Emanuel, so Linda (or Celia) apparently died between 1910 and 1920. Since Arvell was born in 1899, it was probably closer to 1920. Since Gus is buried in Lamb Cemetery, west of Swainsboro, Linda (or Celia) is possibly buried there in an unmarked grave. Clyde Yvonne Scott wrote: >I have Celia Scott (daughter of Jesse P. 3. Betty, one of us has some scrambled information. It's probably me. Or is this just a coincidence? Here is part of what I have: John Emmett Henry (1818-1900) married second Rachel Branch (1825-?) in 1862 in Laurens County. Rachel had children, said to be fathered by -?- Wilkes, before they were married. Her children sometimes went by Wilkes, and sometimes by Branch. One, Annie Eliza Branch, who I think went by Eliza, married John Hardy Nunn, who changed his surname to Anderson. I don't know much about them, except that they had a daughter named Minnie Lee. Minnie (1876-1925) married first Joel Nunn. She married second John Calvin Chalker (1874-1940) in 1909 in Emanuel County. John and Rachel also had children, one of whom, Tabitha A., who was called "Dule", married Jack Drew. Now, does this confuse things, or what? 3. Olivia, What a coincidence! I was planning to post this very question to the list, and I figured you would know the answer if anyone would. Is it possible that Fuller is the 3-month old "Samuel F. Strange" listed as a grandson living with Mitchell and Mary McLeod Strange in the 1880 census? One of their daughters is 20 year old Sarah A. Strange. Regarding the 1900 census: Since 18 y/o Fuller is listed as the head of household, I believe the enumerator mistakenly put down the horizontal line first, to indicate the same surname for Sarah (in this case, Strange) and *then* wrote Hall over it when he realized she was Sarah Hall, married to William Hall. The 1910 census supports this, as Fracie/Frasie Strange is living with William and Sarah Hall in the 53 G.M.D. off McLeod Road. Still, I can't help you with the name of Fuller's father. As with the father of Zachariah Strange (my g-g-grandfather), it remains perplexing and elusive. 3. While the discussion is on the Henry family, I would like to know the parentage/siblings of Albert Lafayette Henry, b Sep 30, 1875, GA, d Jan 5, 1965, Miami, Dade County, FL; buried City Cemetery Swainsboro, GA. Married Jan 7, 1902 in Emanuel County to Frances Katherine "Dumpsie" Smith, b Dec 6, 1879, Washington County, GA, d Sep 24, 1973, Miami, Dade County, FL; buried City Cemetery, Swainsboro, GA. They lived for many years on North Main Street in Swainsboro in an old gingerbread Victorian house that used to be the old Warren Inn, run by Aunt Dumpsie's older sister, Sarah Hasseltine "Sis Sallie" (Smith) Warren and her husband, Col. Edward "Ed" Warren, who was Emanuel County School Superintendent 1892-1911, and then county surveyor for many years. The inn was next door to the old Coleman House, now a B & B. Aunt Dumpsie, Sarah H. and my gr grandmother, Mayme Vandella "Mary" Smith were three of the eight children of Rev. Dr. Benjamin Darius Smith and Doriann Lavinia "Dora" Rountree, my 2nd gr grandparents. I have all of Aunt Dumpsie's family from Colby Smith, RS, to the present day, if anyone is interested. However, I know very little about Uncle Albert's family except that he had a sister named Mattie who lived on Moreland Avenue in Atlanta in the 1850s. Can anyone help? The Johnson County cemetery book for Westview Cemetery lists Julie W. Burris born 14 May 1860-31 Oct 1913 and George W. Burris 5 Oct 1855-13 Sep 1923. Their son Henry D., 27 July 1879-Jul 1950, is listed near his parents. What does the "W" stand for? Henry's birth date of July 1879 is reflected in the 1880 census where he is listed as 3/4 (year) born July. This would mean he was born before his parents were married 15 September 1879. In the above 1880 census, Mattie is listed as age 4. In George Burris' 1900 census Martha M., daughter, is listed born Feb 1876, 24 years old. She too was born before George and Julia Ann were married. I have seen research that shows Julia was daughter of Gideon Tison. However, if Julia's 1860 birth date is correct, then she is too young to be Gideon's daughter. According to Gideon's 1850 census, his July Ann was born c 1849 and does not appear in any later census records with Gideon's family. 1850 Sumter Co Ga census Dist 28 page 158, family #191-191 Tyson, Gideon 35 M farmer NC Jinsey 25 F Ga Nancy A. 10 F " Jno. 8 M Mary 5 F Jane 3 F JULY ANN 1 F Does anyone know if the Julia Ann Tison who married George Burris was a widow when she married?
