STEVENS died 17 Jun 1911. They had 2 sons: Quinton - born 1884 and James Manson - born 1888. She and son Quinton are buried at Stevens Cemetery in Emanuel County. Her tombstone reads: "Age 45 years. Wife of J. S. Stevens. Mother of Quinton & J. Manson Stevens". If she was 45 when she died in 1911, then she was born about 1866. I believe this Sarah is the one who is the daughter of Jesse SCOTT. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Cc.2ADI/653 Message Board Post: I found in the 1900 GA Census Joseph & Ruthy (Sumner) Kitchens to have living with them a granddaughter Sidney Youngblood (born June 1881) and grandson Ferris Youngblood (born April 1884). I was wondering how exactly they were the grandkids of Joseph and Ruth and if these two were siblings and who their parents were. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Frances was born on 6 Sep 1879 in Washington Co., Georgia. She died on 24 Sep 1973 in Miami, Dade Co., Florida. She was buried in City Cemetery, Swainsboro, Georgia. From Diane Carrington Bradford: Aunt Dumpsie and Uncle Albert sold their home on North Main Street in Swainsboro in the early 1960s and moved permanently to Miami, FL to be near their children and grandchildren, all of whom resided in the Miami area. So both of them died in Miami and were brought to Georgia for burial. 38 F ii. Martha O. "Mattie" HENRY was born about 1877 in Jackson Co., Georgia. 39 M iii. Albert wasn't kidding when he said his job was a Travelling Salesman. Their family really moved around - although their 3 sons Albert, Francis "Frank", and James were born in various parts of Georgia, it appears that their daughter Sarah was born in Jacksonville, FL. I could not make out what counties the boys were born in . Where were Albert and Dumpsie in 1910? I haven't been able to locate them. Carol, FYI---Look at the 1920 Emanuel County census on Ancestry.com Roll T625-256, Image 0072, page 3A, lines 21-26. The enumerator who took this census data interpreted "Birth Place" literally and wrote down names of Counties in Georgia where folks were born. You will see that for Albert L. Henry the enumerator wrote "Jackson Co;" for Frances K Henry the enumerator wrote "Washington Co," which was her correct birthplace. It's really great to have confirmation that the Baugh family you found on the 1880 census was, indeed, Uncle Albert's family. The strange thing about that 1880 census is that Mary E. Henry's youngest child, William, was born just 2 months before the census was taken, and she was listed as "Married" not widowed or divorced, yet her husband was not in the household. She was only 20 in 1880, so I looked for her on the 1900 census, but didn't find her or her parents. I didn't find Uncle Albert on the 1900 census either, but he was still a bachelor in 1900 so was probably boarding somewhere and got missed. I did find him on the 1910, 1920 and 1930 census reports. I also found his WW I draft registration card, but he listed only his wife as next of kin. I have a gut-level feeling that Uncle Albert's father either deserted his family or died young, perhaps in scandalous (for that era) circumstances, or for some other reason became estranged from his family because with the exception of his sister, Mattie, Uncle Albert's family was NEVER, EVER mentioned in any way, and I never heard anything about a brother named William. And if you had known Aunt Dumpsie, you would realize how very strange that was because Aunt Dumpsie was totally family oriented and was the "family historian,"-a walking, talking genealogy database who could instantly reel off exactly how every member of her family was related to everyone else in Washington, Emanuel and surrounding counties, to the exact number of "times removed," and how many times members of various families had married into other families and why, and how many children everyone had, etc. Of course, when I heard her saying all those things about family relationships, I was a child or a teenager and could have cared less about all that. <SIGH> Anyway, thanks again for all your help in scaling this particular "brick wall" in my database. Are there any decendants of John R. and Ella Youngblood Durden on the list? Does anyone have information on their younger children; Thelma, Marie, John, Dalton... Dalton died in Polk County in 1948, he is buried in the same cemetery as John R. and Ella. Does anyone know for sure that John's middle name was Roe? Thanks, Wes Wilson

Carol, Thank you so much for finding this and posting it. I do believe you have pegged it. I do not ever remember hearing anyone in my family talk about Uncle Albert's family except for his sister, Mattie, and I did meet her and visit in her home when I was growing up. Also, I would never have guessed his family was NOT from Washington or Emanuel counties. However, I do know that Uncle Albert made his living while a young man as a traveling salesman, so that would explain how he wound up in the Washington/Emanuel area, or even in Forsyth, Georgia where Aunt Dumpsie's family lived in the 1890s while she and her sisters attended what later became Bessie Tift College. Aunt Dumpsie was the youngest and the last to graduate. I know some of their grandchildren are still living, but my mother lost contact with all of them years before her own death in 1994. What I have on all of my Washington and Emanuel counties family lines is posted on WorldConnect at URL: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~strat3926/washindex.htm. There are links to all the various families on that index page. However, I will be updating my database and my posted files over the next few days as I add this data on Uncle Albert's family and some family pictures, so anyone interested in the information should check back often. Thanks again, Carol, for your interest and your help. _http://www.rootsweb.com/~gaemanue/_ (http://www.rootsweb.com/~gaemanue/) Someone was asking for info on a marriage. The rootsweb Emanuel website has marriage and much more information. I don't know why it is not used more often. Check it out. claudia
Anyone know the parents of Susan "Susie" Boatright, who married Alexander S. "Alec" Lumley? Thanks, Ben
I'm confused about who Sarah Scott married. She was the youngest daughter of Jesse P. Scott. In the 1870 census she was listed as Sarah R. According to the 1870 and 1880 censuses she was born abt. 1866. 1910, pg. 66, visit 286: James S. STROUD and wife Sallie. Both age 31, so born abt. 1869. Next door was Henry T. Scott, the eldest child of Jesse P. Scott. Can anyone confirm that Sallie Stroud and Sarah Scott are one in the same? Further confusion for me is that some time ago I recorded Sarah Scott's husband's name as James S. STEVENS. I didn't note my source for this, unfortunately. The 1910 census does say that Sallie and James STROUD were both married twice. They had been married to each other for 6 years, so their marriage year was abt. 1904. Did she marry (1) James STEVENS and (2) James STROUD? If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it! - Yvonne
Clyde, Thanks you for your post on Gus and Celia Hudson. That's pretty much what I have too, except I didn't have Celia's nickname of "Linda." Yvonne <<I have Celia Malinda "Linda" Scott married to Augustus H. "Gus" Hudson on Nov. 4, 1886, in Emanuel County. I have but little information on their family. Their children: Harmon H., Martha L., Henry Jessie, Bonny(?) or Ramie(?) A., Gilbert Newton "Gib", and Jennie M. Gus married second Arvell Marsh on Jan. 13, 1920, in Emanuel, so Linda (or Celia) apparently died between 1910 and 1920. Since Arvell was born in 1899, it was probably closer to 1920. Since Gus is buried in Lamb Cemetery, west of Swainsboro, Linda (or Celia) is possibly buried there in an unmarked grave. Clyde>>
