There are a lot of daughters whom I've not been able to track. I'd love to know who they married and who the various wives' maiden names are. There's a lot of data here, so I'll have to send it in 3 separate e-mails. Additions/corrections or your thoughts and comments would be much appreciated! Carol First Generation 1. Isaac SPENCE was born before 1785. He died after 1820 in Emanuel Co., Georgia. The 1820 Emanuel County Census lists 2 SPENCE households led by Blueford and Isaac. The 1830 Emanuel Co., GA Census lists 3 SPENCE households: Jeremiah, Leaston, and Littleton. It is probable that they are all brothers. The 1840 lists Jeremiah, Mary, and Littleton. It is therefore assumed that Mary is the widow of Leaston. 1820 US Census: Emanuel Co., GA: SPENCE, Blueford 2 males 26-45 1 female 16-26 SPENCE, Isaac 4 males up to 10 1 male 16-26 1 male 26-45 1 female 16-26 It is believed that the 4 sons of Isaac listed in 1820 include Jeremiah, Leaston, and Littleton. Was he Mary's son or a nephew? Leaston married Mary before 1824 in Georgia. Mary was born about 1805 in Georgia. They had the following children: SPENCE, John A.-78956 5 M i. John A. SPENCE was born on 15 Dec 1824 in Georgia. He died in Jul 1897 in Emanuel Co., Georgia. He was buried in Old Union Grove Cemetery, Canoochee, Georgia. It is presumed that he is the John SPENCE who married Sarah "Sallie" ROBERTS in Emanuel County in 1855. His tombstone reads: "John A. Spence, Husband of Mrs. Sarah Spence" - born 1824; died 1897. Sarah's tombstone gives her year of birth as 1820 and year of death as 1919. Sarah Roberts, daughter of Eli, was born about 1837, according to the 1850 Emanuel County Census. Given these birth years, the date on Sarah's tombstone has to be incorrect. Census data seems to prove that she is the daughter of Eli ROBERTS and Delania KENT. John and Sarah apparently had no children. 1850 US Census: Emanuel Co., GA - District 28; Household 135: SPENCE, Mary 45 John 24 Is this the right couple? 1860 US Census: Emanuel Co., GA - District 57; Household 152/153: SPENCE, J. 3. Looking for someone researching the family of Green W. Sherrod (11839-1917) and Adeline (Annie) Roberts (1844-1918). they were married 1867 in Emanuel Cty Ga. Also both died in Emanuel Cty so it is assumed they lived most of their life there. I am trying a new approach - researching the siblings of Eli Roberts, which is where I have hit a road block. Would like to work with someone who is researching this line. Cathy Roberts Pierce

I sent her instructions on how to do so, plus I am sure once her Aunt Deb sees them she will contact her also. Pat was a Lanier/Olliff cousins and much too young to be gone from us. She is missed. 3. Sometimes they didn't get recorded other times they were recorded in the county and not the capital. I had this happen to me one time. It was in Brooks county and the death certificate was for the year 1925. The county had the death certificate, but it had not been registered. I had to wait until they registered it in Atlanta before I could receive a copy.
