It was thought for years that Hardy C. was a son of Reubin and Rachel Thompson, but more recent research by several people, mainly Bo Mosley and Marilyn Lear, has shown that he, Pheroby, and William F. were probably the children of Edy or Edith Thompson of Burke and Emanuel Counties; whether Thompson was her maiden name or she was married to a Thompson has not been proven. I know his wife's name was Martha, per the 1850 census, but in the 1860 census her name was Litha. Could her name have been Martha TELITHA Webb? Her date of death was given in Emmett Lucas' book as June 18, 1863, and referred to 'family records' that her name was Webb. What was the source of her death date? Litha Powell sold her child's interest in Silas Powell's estate in 1886. Where is she buried? I really need some help on this one. It has puzzled me for a long time and I feel that somebody on this list must know and be able to cite a primary source or a reliable secondary source, or know of someone who can. William (Billy) Oliver was Mattie Belle Martin's father. I have not found evidence of a marriage between William and Mary ella Martin, but he is listed as her father on her Social Security application. Bobbie
