Or perhaps this Sarah Hall is his grandchild (daughter of a deceased son James Hall). _______________________________________________________________________________ William and Mrs. HALL had the following children: 2 M i. The existence of William Hall, Jr. is based on the wedding announcement of William Sr.'s son, Henry: "Southern Recorder, Milledgeville: Tuesday, May 12, 1857 - Married: On Thursday, the 16th ultimo, at the residence of William Bishop, Sr., by Owen McGar, Esq., Mr. Henry Hall to Miss Elizabeth Bishop, all of Emanuel County." 3 F ii. In 1850 he and Martha lived next door to the widowed Mary M. Scott (Mary MOORE, wife of John J. SCOTT). Could he be John & Mary's son instead of Britain's?>> I like this question! It's one I have pondered over a good bit, and while I am not 100% sure that Henry was the son of Britain SCOTT, I am reasonably sure. I've never been able to find out anything on John J. SCOTT to connect him properly to our SCOTTs, but he had to have been close kin. Things I have considered besides the 1850 census you mentioned: Mary M. SCOTT had a daughter named Georgia Ann (who m. Welcome Coleman). Henry also named one of his daughters Georgia Ann. When John J. SCOTT died (1835) Britain SCOTT purchased from his estate sale. John J. could have been Britain's brother or uncle and therefore Henry's uncle or great uncle. Records I have found that give strong circumstantial evidence that Henry was the son of Britain & Nancy PRICE SCOTT: In the 1830 census Britain had living in his household 2 males in the 5-10 year-old bracket. In 1840 he had 2 males ages 15-20. His son Jesse was born about 1820. Henry was born about 1825. Both of them fit in these time frames. Jesse married in 1843; Henry in 1845. I think the above record shows that Britain was surveying his land in order to give his two sons land to set up their own homesteads. Henry's first son was named William B. SCOTT (B for Britain?) Henry's son James Lawson SCOTT named a son William Britton SCOTT. A descendant of James Lawson has told me that her family always said that Henry's father was Britain SCOTT. 6 F v. Susannah "Susan" R. HALL was born on 12 May 1830 in Emanuel Co., Georgia. I'd appreciate some thoughts on this: 1930 US Census: Gillis Springs, Treutlen Co., GA - District 5; Household 16: HUTCHESON, Redden J. 51; married at 18 Sarah M. 57; married at 25 Hettie T. 30 (did she ever marry?) POOL, Clio L. 1 6/12 The 1930 Census states that Lily was widowed. This is incorrect. Her husband, Henry A. POOLE, was alive and well in Emanuel County where she and baby Lilly C. (Cleo, apparently) were listed with him: 1930 US Census: Emanuel Co., GA - GMD 1452, District 19; Household 170: POOLE, Henry A. 29; age at first marriage: 21 Lilly B. 25; age at first marriage: 17 Victoria 7 Tillman R. 6 Walter R. 3 6/12 Lilly C. 1 6/12 Jennie 53; widowed mother John R. 27; brother James T. 25; brother If Lilly was married at age 17, it is probable that the 2 grandsons listed with her parents are, in fact, her children. Sue, Warren Jackson "Jack" WILLIAMS was the son of Washington WILLIAMS and Messener (SP) HALL WILLIAMS. Refer to my postings on the Washington WILLIAMS family in the 2004 Archives, around February. Did you mean Gum Log Cemetery in Johnson County, GA? I don't think there's a Gum Log Cemetery in Emanuel County. I don't have one listed in my "Cemeteries of Emanuel County Georgia" by Moses M. Coleman, Jr. I did not have where he and Rosa were buried at or dates. Thank you! Looking at the census records it appears that the birthdate on his headstone is incorrect, not surprising as the date on his brother Richard Washington WILLIAMS is incorrect too. I do believe that he was born around 1845, as his age is consistent in 1860, 1870, & 1880 census. However he appears to have aged 10 yrs. (LOL) in the 1900 census (age listed as 66) which should find him around 55 years old. If I can ever locate the Washington WILLIAMS family in SC in the 1850 census hopefully it will shed more light on this family. So far no luck, although oral family history has them coming from somewhere around Edgefield County, SC. Here is some census info on Warren J.
