Obit Annie M. Marsh, 79 Forest Blade 22 Jun 2005 SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Annie M. Marsh, 79, will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Shady Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Page officiating. Burial will be in Swainsboro City Cemetery. Mrs. Marsh went to heaven Monday, June 20, 2005, at her residence after an extended illness. Mrs. Marsh will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends at Peebles Curry-Durden Mortuary Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Mrs. Marsh was a native of Emanuel County, worked in food service with the Emanuel County School System and was a member of Mt Shady Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Marsh and son Melvin Marsh. Survivors include five daughters, Joyce McIntee and Gail Douglas of Swainsboro; Erlene Rowland of Tampa, Fla.; Shelby Chance of Bartow; and Marie Brown of Midville; one son, Phillip Marsh of Swainsboro; three sisters, Katie Canady, Martha Nell Beasley and Jean Henry all of Swainsboro; three brothers, M D Akridge and Elzie Akridge of Stillmore; and Ralph Akridge of Swainsboro; several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren Pallbearers will be grandsons. Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Carol, In Irwin County there is a marriage Thomas McGar to Gotsey Pritchard (thats the way it was spelled) of February 03, 1887. I am almost positive it is a transcribed error (I found it on the internet) and is supposed to be 1867 as the first child was born abt. 1868 or 69. Don't know why they were in Irwin County andy ideas?? There was no other McGar marriages listed so I am clueless. Dawn

Richard, In the 1880 census Richard was married at 22 and had 12 living children: 2 had left home one of which was Susan then there was: Henrietta 19, Elizabeth 16, James 14, Alex 12, Lester 10, Laura 9, Emma 7, Robert 5, Marge 3, and Thomas 1. According to Sallie McGar's (widow of George Washington Mcgar) obit in 1919, her sister, Mrs .William Green (Mary Virginia Kennedy Green, widow of William H. Green) was living in Waycross Ga. I pulled the cencus reocords and found her. She was living with her daughter and husband, Don J. and Eva Aletha Green Cason at one time. Does anyone know where Mary V. Kennedy McGar is buried? Dawn

I am confused, too! There was some discussion on this one time before. We know Owen was married to Mary Ann ?, born around 1818. Emanuel marriage records shows a marriage between Owen McGar and Mary Fields on July 17, 1884. I always thought this was the same Owen who was widowed by this time. The only other Owen McGars I can find were Owen H. McGar born 1871 and died 1889 and William Owen born abt 1840 and died 1865. Buried at Bithynia is Mary B. McGarr 1828-1904. Was there any proof Mary B. McGarr was a Bishop. I thought it was an assumption because I have never seen any marriage record. I have all the census reords of Owen but the only one I have copied in my database is this one: 1860 Emanuel County, Georgia, Census: visit 4/5 Owen McGar - 48; Maryann - 44; E.J. It's one I have pondered over a good bit, and while I am not 100% sure that Henry was the son of Britain SCOTT, I am reasonably sure. I've never been able to find out anything on John J. SCOTT to connect him properly to our SCOTTs, but he had to have been close kin. Things I have considered besides the 1850 census you mentioned: Mary M. SCOTT had a daughter named Georgia Ann (who m. Welcome Coleman). Henry also named one of his daughters Georgia Ann. When John J. SCOTT died (1835) Britain SCOTT purchased from his estate sale. John J. could have been Britain's brother or uncle and therefore Henry's uncle or great uncle. Records I have found that give strong circumstantial evidence that Henry was the son of Britain & Nancy PRICE SCOTT: In the 1830 census Britain had living in his household 2 males in the 5-10 year-old bracket. In 1840 he had 2 males ages 15-20. His son Jesse was born about 1820. Henry was born about 1825. Both of them fit in these time frames. Jesse married in 1843; Henry in 1845. I think the above record shows that Britain was surveying his land in order to give his two sons land to set up their own homesteads. Henry's first son was named William B. SCOTT (B for Britain?) Henry's son James Lawson SCOTT named a son William Britton SCOTT. Obit of Leo BOATWRIGHT Forest-Blade 30 Aug 1972 Funeral services for Leo Boatwright of Augusta will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday from the chapel of Poseys Funeral Home in North Augusta. The Rev. J. Edward Adams will officiate and burial is to be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The native of Emanuel County died Tuesday in an Augusta hospital. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Advent Christian Church. Surving are one son, Leo W. Boatwright of Augusta; his father, Moses W. Boatwright of Augusta; his mother, Mrs. Annie B.Nelly of Canton, Texas; two brothers, Arlis D. Boatwright of Marietta and Randell B. Boatwright of Augusta; and one sister, Mrs. Eloise B. Gay of Augusta.
