<< March 9, 1911 Frank Covena, a well known farmer of this county, came near losing his life in an accident this morning. >> Frank died the following day, at age 30. Frank's parents are Francis L. "Frank" COVENAH (1845-1912) and Mitter Lou FIELDS (1858-1910). Does anyone know who Frank married just the month before his death? Some of us have been trying to figure out who Mitter's parents are ... I haven't found her on any Census record as a child. If Frank Covena was a nephew of Sheriff T. A. FIELDS, then it stands to reason that Frank's mom was the good sheriff's sister, right? Now look at this: 1860 US Census: Jefferson Co., GA - District 83; Household 32: FIELDS, James W. 38 Elen L. 30 Mary M. 9 Marjoner ? E. 7 (Marjorie?) James W. 6 Riller M. 5 John H. 3 Emily A. 1 Miles 6/12 (Sheriff Tom, child #15 [ouch!] came along later in 1871) 1880 US Census: Wadley, Jefferson Co., GA - District 65, Family 261: COVENA, Frank 33 Mitter 20 James 2 1900 US Census: Jefferson Co., GA - GMD 83, Family 293, page 141B: COVENA, Frank L. 54 Emily A. ? 40 Frank 19 Henry 15 Nathan 13 Fannie 11 Ruba (Ruby?) Pearl 9 Cleo 7 Mittie 4 At Greenway-Fields Cemetery at Blundale: Mitter L. COVENNAH - born Jun 17, 1858; died Jul 26, 1910. "Wife of Frank L. Covennah". Now, here's the big question: Are Mitter Lou and Emily A. the same person?? I'm open to ideas! Carol Riner Everett __________________________________ Yahoo! Anyone know the parents of this Jesse Moore? Atlanta Constitution, The (Atlanta, Georgia) > 1896 > November > 23 Swainsboro Pine Forest: We learn that our old friend, Jesse R. Moore, is still as rogish as ever. We did think that Jesse would reform in his old days, but now we hear of his stealing of the daughter of a Mr. Willis at Ty By, where he lives, a few nights ago. But, then, Jesse would not feel like he had a wife if he did not steal her. Dawn

I'm not positive which of the other kids belongs to the first wife but one more should. At the death of James Clifford (my husband's grandfather) his twin John Clark said to my husband that he was the "last of the three" still alive. Jack and Wally are from the second marriage. I *think* Lucy (deceased) is the third child of the first marriage, but I'm not positive about that. Jack is still alive as is Elmo, a son of John Clark. I will be contacting them soon to gather more info. I've met them both several years ago at family functions but don't know them well. I'll post when I know more. Tara --- avast! Hi Bobbie, Just a few questions to clarify... 1. Was Solomon THOMPSON married to Clarissa Elizabeth GRIFFITH or Elizabeth Clarissa GRIFFITH? I show the latter in my database. 2. Was Josephine THOMPSON married to Eleazer Lewis COWART or Eleazer Logan COWART? I show the latter in my database. I have their fifth child as Eleazer Lewis COWART. I assume this is the child you refer to as Lewis. Am I correct? Thanks for sharing what you learned from Josephine's granddaughter. Thanks Tara, I just looked again at the GA Death Index and it says 21 DEC 1919 as Lula's death date. I know about mistakes on headstones as we have several in my family lines, but this one just stuck out as it is the first where I found a person living after the death date. Thanks again, Sandra -----Original Message----- From: Tara D. "Tom" FIELDS family Lula may very well have been alive at the time the Census taker came around to her house. It's not uncommon to find that the census was started the year before and continued through the year after the actual date of the census. At look at the original may show the date the census info was actually collected. It's also not uncommon for headstones to be wrong - especially if placed years after the actual death. I have that Shadrack "Shade" Wheeler died in 1874. If this is correct, Maggie Wheeler who married Malcolm Lee "Make" Adams would not be his daughter, as I believe she was born in 1877. If this is wrong, please advise. I do have that Shade and Mary had a daughter named Margaret, born in 1871. Maggie and Make did not have children, but she had a son before her marriage, Robert Bennett "Rob" Wheeler (1898-1990). Rob Wheeler lived in Kibbee and was a horticulturist of sorts; he married Agnes Odom. I was told by Algerine Williamson that Martha was buried in Waters Cem.--he was born in 1888 in Normantown, which is close to the cemetery. The land the cemetery is on was originally Martha's land and homeplace, and I believe she was probably buried there because her husband was, and possibly some of her children, as well. But, of course, I don't have documented proof of this.
