    1. Re: [GAEMANUE-L] Murder in Oak Park
    2. All, I spoke with Daddy (William W. LINDSEY, Sr of Oak Park, GA) this afternoon. He is 87 years old and while his mind is clear, his hearing is not! By his admission, this story which started as history was repeated as a ghost story.. The EUBANKS family lived in the house in Oak Park later occupied by Aunt Nettie HARRINGTON. Mr. EUBANKS borrowed Wayne GRIFFIN's pistol. He was on his way to return the pistol to Mr. GRIFFIN when he turned around, went back to his house, killed his family, then killed himself. Mrs. EUBANKS was J. J. POWELL's niece. Mr. Pete STRANGE, now deceased, told Daddy that the bodies were sent by train to Stillmore to be buried. Daddy believes, but has no proof, that they are buried in Old Oak Grove Cemetery. His reasoning: there are 5 places out of the main section of the cemetery. They are marked, but not identified. 3. Carol, Sorry, guess I never did an update after the visit to the Hope Cemetery. Clyde could possibly be the son (John C), as he was born 22 Feb 1907! I never associated "Clyde" with "John C". I assumed, like you did, the C would be for "Choice", or even "Cogle" from the Durden side.... And I could not figure out why John Frances was buried out there with no other close family members. One daughter (b. 1902) is buried here in Jacksonville, the other (b. 1894) is buried in Bradford Co. On the death certificate of John Frances, he is listed as widowed of Dora Hall. Juniper P. (Dube) Hall was b. 14 March 1847 in Swainsboro d. 26 July 1927 here in Jacksonville, FL. He died at the Old Soldiers Home and is buried in the "Old City Cemetery" in the Confederate Soldiers Plot. Thanks for the insight, sometimes it takes a different viewpoint! I just found this about Lyman, in a posting of the history of McRae Fl- "The post office and store were housed in the structure that served as the headquarters of a lumber and turpentine business, with its own distillery, owned by Lyman Hall. This "center" of town was located near Hall Lake, just up the road. McRae ws not just a store and a post office, however. Many of the early settlers stayed on to build homes - such as the more thatn 100 year old house you pass at the corner of Highways 315 and 214, orginally built by Mr. Hall." The article says that the area was settled before the Civil War and orginally was known as McRaeville. Carol M.

    3. You can also get it used at http://www.abebooks.com without the auction hassle. Btw, www.abebooks.com has a lot of history/genealogy books - some are very hard to find. I've had a lot of luck with them. Tara Olivia wrote: >I realize this is against the rules, but many people have requested this book. 1. Cemeteries in and around Emanuel County
    2. Tara You can buy a cemetery book which gives directions to each cemetery. The Shop Rite Pharmacy on West Main sells them or you can get the info from the cemetery book at the library. If you do go to the Franklin Memorial Library, be sure to check out the index file box that Ann Buxton, has copied obits from the Forest Blade and placed on cards. This may help you with your line. Enjoy your trip. I'm envious, lol. Claudia
