There are two infants buried at the Youmans Cemetery in Nunez, GA that are listed as children of "A. & C.M. Youmans". 3. Olivia, The obituary is one that I posted to the list two or three years ago. I found it in the obituary index at the Swainsboro library, and it has to be for this Travis Hall. Travis Francis Hall was born 11-02-1816 and his death date on his toombstone is 7-16-1907. He moved with his family in the early 1880's to Altha in Calhoun Co, Fl, and he is buried at the New Shiloh Cemetery there. That is why, when I found this obituary, it was confusing. The obituary is dated 9-22-1904, and written by a niece or nephew of Travis. This is all that it said: "Uncle Travis Hall died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Kate Wickstrum last Monday. Uncle Travis was one of the oldest men in the county, being about 90. He was one of the most liberal men that ever lived and everybody that knew Uncle Travis as he was, was his friend." What I think happened is that he was either visiting his family in Emanuel Co or had come to live with Kate since he had become frail. I think that he died in Emanuel County in 1904 and that his body was later moved to Florida, and that he was buried there on 7-16-1907. No one had any other explanation at the time, so if anyone knows differently, please let us know. Who else from her family married into the Wickstrum family? Carol B. 3. Okay, I now see Katherine "Katie" Hall, b. 1851, as a daughter of Travis Francis Hall and Martha Ann Moore. She's a more likely candidate for Katherine "Katie" Hall Wickstrom (b. 1853 per census) than the Katherine Hall, d/o Bolling. Carol, could you send me the obituary you mentioned? Thanks! 3. Carol & Olivia, Sorry, that's what I meant. Bolling Hall was living in Florida long before 1877 so I doubt his daughter married in Emanuel Co. Katherine, daughter of Travis, was not living with the family in 1880, when Travis was still in Emanuel Co, so she had probably married by then. I think Travis's daughter was the one who married Charles William Wickstrom. Carol B. 3. I have JRD married a "Mrs. Sarah Neal Griffis" and in the bio Henry Richard Daniel mentions that his father Nathaniel died when he was 9 days old, so this would agree with the father Nathaniel being in one census and not showing up in the next one, and son HRD showing up with grandmother and uncle in the next census. Thank you to everyone who is helping in this search... Explain the following from Dawn Cannady Williams: In 1827 John R. Daniel/Daniell married the widow Sarah Griffis. She later divorced him stating he was running around with another woman. She also stated that he was after her money left by her late husband and that he was trying to say the "other woman" she claimed he was seeing was some relation to him. The document I have from the courthouse states she married him 1/27/1827. John was served the divorce papers in 1842. The latter Sarah would be the Sarah Daniel, age 49, living in the household of Neil and Mary McLeod in 1850. The only Nathaniel Daniel I found in 1850 that fit the right age was in Baker County: Nathaniel Daniel, age 22, Butcher, Mrs. Elizabeth Daniel, age 15. The only explanation I can come up with for all of this is that Sarah Griffis, the DAUGHTER, was married to ANOTHER Griffis (who died and left her property) prior to her marriage in 1827 to J.R. Daniel; divorced J.R.D. in 1842 and moved in with her sister, Mary McLeod. Now I'm confused all over again! 3. Hello Emanuel genealogy buffs: If you can shed some light on this figure of speech, please send me an email. I'm wondering if I could have learned it growing up in Emanuel County. It's off-topic, so it probably shouldn't become a matter of discussion for the list. In an email to a couple of friends, I used this figure of speech: "I had had my bait of that job, so...." Meaning I was fed up with the job. I thought to have one's bait means to eat too much of something, to the point that it's about to make you sick. Both of my friends questioned me about "having my bait". Where did I pick up that figure of speech? Etc. I told them I thought I learned it from the older generation growing up in Emanuel County, Georgia. -- Hugh Lawson [email protected]

    3. I understand this and this is what I have. I think we got off on the wrong generation with our Sarahs. I also have Cassandra, born March 25, 1822, as a child of John Griffis and Sarah Neal. BUT! [email protected] It seems to me that the above Sarah would be Sarah Neal Griffis, MOTHER of Sarah Griffis (who was b. 1801, supposedly married John Raven Daniel in January 27, 1827 and had a son named Nathaniel who married Elizabeth Atkinson and had Henry Richard Daniel on July 01, 1851).
