Hope this helps someone. Carole in SC Greenville News, Greenville, South Carolina Sarah F. Burbage, Greenville Sarah F. Burbage, 86, died Dec. 29, 2000. Born in Elberton, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Abner D. and Emma Johnson Fortson. Mrs. Burbage was married to H.D. "Dick" Burbage for 62 years, until his death in 1999. Mr. Burbage was president of Palmetto Garment Co. before his retirement. Mrs. Burbage was a noted amateur artist in Greenville. She served as a flower judge and won numerous awards as a flower arranger. She was an officer of Lake Forest Garden Club, active in the Exchange Club Ladies Auxiliary, a member of Nathaniel Greene Chapter of DAR, and a member of First Baptist Church for most of the last sixty years. She was instrumental in founding the S.C. Association for Retarded Children and was active in promoting the establishment of public education for retarded children in the 1950's before such was commonplace. Surviving are a son, Harvey Devar Burbage Jr. and his wife, Susan Myers Burbage, of Potomac, Md.; a daughter, Sarah Charlene Burbage of Whitten Center, Clinton; two grandchildren, Scott M. Burbage of Seattle, Wash., and Lee P. Burbage of Alexandria, Va.; a great-granddaughter, Madeline Grace Burbage of Seattle, Wash.; and two sisters, Daisy Floyd of Dublin, Ga., and Abbie Ware of Tampa, Fla. Services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive, with Dr. Donna Forrester officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the mortuary.
