Someone on another list sent out a message giving the following URL. http://www.ssa.gov/foia/foia_guide.htm I've checked in out, and on 1 July (this Sunday), the fee for a copy of one SS application will jump from $7 to $27 if you do have the SSN, and to $29 if you do not. I found an excellent site that I wanted to share with all of you if you have not already visited it. It is called Ancient Faces: Virtual Genealogy Exchange. Here istheir website link: http://ancientfaces.com/cgi-bin/index.cfm The whole site has old family photos and is quite impressive. I found a couple from my own lines---and these were people whose faces I had never seen before!! Just thought you might be interested. If you have already received this from another list please disregard it. I was so impressed with the site that I wanted to send it to all of the lists that I subscibe to as I know that we all have ancestors whose faces we would like to see. :o) Hopefully, you will have some luck too.
