    3. Need a little help in Franklin/Elbert County GA; can you help? An entry in a Verner Family Bible states: "Our great grandfather, John Moss, we understand was a bound boy moving from Virginia with a family and lived with this family until the age of 21, when they gave him a horse, saddle, bridle, and money, and he settled in Franklin County, Georgia. Obtained by R. W. Moss, B. F. Moss." John Moss is not known to have a grandson R. W. Moss; he did have a grandson Robert John Moss, son of Richard Henry Moss. John Moss had a grandson Benjamin Franklin Moss, also a son of Richard Henry Moss; so a brother of Robert John Moss. The information known is that R. W. and B. F. obtained the information quoted above from a Verner Family Bible, owned by Robert John Moss, it was hand written by R. W. and B. F. It was apparently typed by someone, then scanned (scanner errors are apparent). John Moss is known to have married Nancy Boatright, dau of William Boatright and Elizabeth Tyner, on 16 Jul 1818 in Franklin County GA. John was born in 1801, so was age 17 when they married; Nancy was age 15 and seven months pregnant. It seems likely that the boy John Moss moved with the William Boatright family from Bedford County VA and lived with them after he married Nancy, as John Moss was first deeded land on 21 Dec 1821, when he was age 20, going on 21. Assuming the extracted notes are correct, there should be a court record documenting the indenture/apprenticeship of John Moss to the family with whom he moved from VA to GA. If the family was the Boatrights, the court record could be in Bedford County VA, Franklin County GA or Elbert County GA (property involved in GA county boundary change). I could surely use some help documenting the family to which John Moss was indentured/apprenticed; can you help? What court record would contain indentures of this type? Richard Henry Moss married Sarah Caroline Verner, dau of Robert P. Verner and Susan Caroline Moss, dau of Frederick Moss and Barbara Berry. One source reported to me that the first child of Frederick Moss and Barbara Berry was a son John; no proof has been found and no son John was mentioned in the Will of Frederick Moss. Does anyone know that Frederick Moss and Barbara Berry had a son born 1801 named John? Norm Ricker normhr@tampabay.rr.com
