    1. Re: [GAELBERT] Elbert Co. records
    2. I spoke with the Probate Judge and the Court Clerk back in late summer. I can't remember exactly why but letting volunteers come in on week ends and sort the documents was not working out. They, therefore, enlisted the aid of one "expert" lady to do the job. I left with the impression it would be some time before the papers were in any order for viewing, filming, etc. If anyone is interested in calling, the number for the Probate Court Office in Elberton is 706-283-2016. The Court Clerk's name is Susan Sexton. She is quite helpful and a very good genealogist herself. I'm sure she would be willing to give an update. In the October 1996 issue it stated that they had just finished sorting and filing the last of the records from the many boxes that had been found in the Elbert Co. courthouse. Does anyone know when we [the general public] will be able to view these records? Have any plans been made to film those records? Could we see the records if we made a trip to Elbert Co.? I am very anxious to see some of those records as I'm hopeful that a clue to my family will be in there. Thanks. Pat
