The 1930 census will be at the National Archives branch in So. Calif. on 1 April 2000. There is not a soundex for all states however. I don't know if the other branches will receive theirs at the same time or not. Ken in Calif. I spoke with the Probate Judge and the Court Clerk back in late summer. I can't remember exactly why but letting volunteers come in on week ends and sort the documents was not working out. They, therefore, enlisted the aid of one "expert" lady to do the job. I left with the impression it would be some time before the papers were in any order for viewing, filming, etc. If anyone is interested in calling, the number for the Probate Court Office in Elberton is 706-283-2016. The Court Clerk's name is Susan Sexton. She is quite helpful and a very good genealogist herself. I'm sure she would be willing to give an update.
